Temp high?

I recently upgraded from my Codegen Tower to a Lian Li PC-65. I put in a new ASUS 266-E and my old 1.4 T-Bird with a SK-6 and 7000 rpm YS-Tech fan. Right now I am idling at 50 C and hitting 55-60 C under full load. I have lapped the SK-6 and have a mirror finish on it. The fan is blowing and the CPU isn't OC'ed yet either. What am I doing wrong here? I see guys posting temps of 32C idle and 40C under full load. I am using the ASUS Probe to monitor temps also. Can someone help me cool down a little bit?

Thanks,
Austin

I would imagine your Temp Monitor is wrong. It seems a little high. Is the Heatsink hot to the touch?

Its a "normal" a7v266E temp. Unless you have a super cold case, you have nothing to worry about.

P.S. You can't compare your temps to another mb's temps... Every MB reads temps differently.

My A7V266 runs at 35C on idle, and about 38 at full load. Plus I have a bunch of neon in it, and only 5 fans. The Dragon Orb 3 h/s fan really helped! Dropped the temp about 7 degrees from a Volcano.

I have a 1.4 T in a pc-68 case with an MSI board. The load temp is around 48c and idle around 43c using an alpha 8045 with an enermax adj on med. I replaced the rear 80 with a 90 to move more air and run the front stock fans at the lowest setting. Switching to high give me about a 2c drop. Replacing the two 80's with 90's this weekend to see if I can get the same benefit at a lower sound level.

No. It don't even really feel warm to touch.

Something is up with the Asus temp readings. Everyone is getting pretty high temps. Same rig... with a Shuttle AK31 R3.1 35C Load.... with the A7V266E... 39C Load.

Not sure if one is more accurrate than the other.

They are socket-thermistor. Neither is accurate. However, Asus employs quite a bit of "temperature" compensation to better represent die temps. Its a normal thing, and many manufacturers do it.

Err, not quite... Side-thermistors are still subject to well under-read core temps... Gives at best a 70% of core temp rise over ambient... really depends on how and where the thermistor is placed, but it will never give the true "die" temp.
