Temperature Compensation......MBM 4.16

Curious to know if anyone uses the temperature compensation in MBM, to match
what the bios reading is.
I assume at full rest when in the bios screen, the temp reading in PC health
status is the most accurate, right?

Will the actual CPU temperature change from viewing it in the bios as
apposed to idle in Win 98 ?

I use a +3 deg. compensation to even the temp readings out MBM , Sandra and
Bios all line up just about right now.

One more thing, Are the temp readings in Sandra pretty accurate?

For all the fussing we do about temps, we really don't know what is going on. I have seen bios readouts get all whacked out depending on what slocket I use. I have used the compensation feature in MBM, but I really don't think the readouts are all that accurate anyway. I don't trust Sandra at all for temps. In my experience, it has never been very good for that.

According to Sandra my cpu is 198f right now and my mobo is not far behind. I have Hardware Monitor and that gives me normal readings along with another monitoring utility i downloaded because SiSoft scared the ship out of me so i had to be doubley sure. SiSoft is awesome for other things but definitely not temperatures

I've got 2 temp-probes attached to the inside of my Athlon's heat-transfer-plate. One connects to the temp header on my MB and I can monitor through BIOS/MBM, the other connects up to an external temp monitor/fan control thingy and displays on a little LCD on the front of my case.

I never used to trust MBM/BIOS, but that external monitor I'm sure is very accurate. Now that I've had a chance to monitor the same thing with both thermistors at the same time, I can say that on a K7V at least the MBM CPU reading is accurate. It's always within .5C of the external reading without using the temp compensation feature.
