Temperature Question on Opteron 170

I just build this system:

OCZ Powerstream 520 Power Supply
AMD Opteron 170 (Stepping: 546XPMW)
Thermalright SI-120 Heatsink using Arctic Silver 5
120mm 2500rpm Panaflo for heatsink
DFI LAN Party UT SLI-DR Expert
2gb of Kingston Valueram (I know its crappy, buying better ram soon)-not causing problems though
EVGA 7800 GT CO G-Card
2 - 120GB SATA Segate Baraccuda's 7200.8 (I belive)

I havent overclocked yet just wanted to make sure my Temp's are execeptable, in bios it says the CPU is at 23-24 idle, the side isnt on the case and the AC5 hasnt settled in yet but does this seem like a good temp for my processor to be at if its not OCed yet or should i redo the thermal paste?

That seems really low actually. Unless it's very cool in the room that you computer's in, I would almost wonder if it's reporting the right temps at all. My 170 seems to idle around 32°C at stock. I would check the temperature in a few other monitoring programs just to make sure that's the correct value and not something higher. If that is indeed accurate, then those temps are awesome.

Well you have to figure like +3 degrees would get added when i put the side of the case on probally and yea its pretty cold in the room, its in my basement and we dont use the heater on the one side of the room cause of all the wires from the computers, hehe

Yeah...it seems like a foreign concept to me that some places actually get cold during the winter

Thats not entirely unreasonable of a temperature. My opty 165 idles around 32C. My winchester that I was using prior idled at 25C with C&Q on and I live in SoCal so it isn't exactly freezing here.

ack, my temperatures are really high compared to those. i'm at 51C running SP2004 for over 8 hours. lowest i've seen it at was at 39C. is it because the AS5 hasn't had time to settle? i just finished putting it together last night.

my board reports temps 10 degrees to low. so technically im running at 32 degrees and 43 on load.

Your board as mine and ALL other expert owners report 8-10c under real temps. mine is reading as I type 33 under dual prime load, not likely it should be 41-43c real temps
