Seems to me I need better thermal grease as well. I already have 3 fans in the case (1 rear and 2 up front). What do you guys recommend for removing the old thermal grease?

Hi guys and gals,

Maybe someone can help me out. I just installed a Zalman heatsink and fan on my Abit Nf7-S with Athlon XP 2500 and am getting around 50c on idle and about 55c on full load. Is that temperature dangerous for the CPU? If so, what is an acceptable temperature and what is the limit?

regards,
peter

It's not dangerous but it's a lil high for a zalman HSF (if it's like a 7000Cu...)
What's your zalman's model? is it full copper or Al/Cu?

According to specs, you're within range. I'm getting lower temps on my thermalright 900a though. Slightly overclocked, get temps in the low 40's.

Around 50C sounds ok for a low-noise HS since temps can slightly vary depending on your case air-flow and mobo sensor.

AMD website say's the Barton 2500's Max Die Temp is 85C.

I have the Zalman CNPS6000, not overcloked in a Lian Li "quiet" case. The airflow is not that great....

i have my barton o/c'd to 214 and my temps idle are about 44. i used to have that similar problem however, and i would just recommend you using a vantec aeroflow to fix that problem, i would bet money that it will drop your temp to 45 atleast.
