I have a 3200+ Winchester on a K8N Neo2 and a Thermaltake Silent Boost HSF w/ AS5 and after a little over a week of running it, my temps at idle are around 41oC and at load (Prime95 TT, opt 1) around 56oC. These temps are according to Everest and Corecell adds 5oC to every temp. Also the Ambient temp is around 19oC

Now, the question is, are these temps normal and/or ok? I want to and plan(ned) on overclocking, yet I do not want the temps to screw me over with that.

If those temps are not ok, what should I do?

Thanks in advance.

Did you try re-installing the heatsink? And/or re-applying the thermal paste. Maybe you forgot to clamp the heatsink down like I did. If it doesnt go above 60C you should be fine, but IMO I dont like my cpu running that hot, thats why I got a XP 90 and now I OCd 600Mhz and 45C Load

The HSF is installed correctly. If I can help it I really don't want to reseat the heatsink...perhaps I will have to though. Anyone else want to comment? Again, thanks in advance.

Those are the same temps I always got (when monitoring with Everest) when using the retail HSF. They are perfectly normal. I'm not familiar with the Thermaltake Silentboost HSF. Is it designed with silent running as it's main goal as the name implies? If so, that might be why you're getting the same temps as I did with the stock HSF. Only yours would be quieter. Out of curiosity, what speed does your CPU fan run to get those temps?

Regarding the 5 degree temp variation between CoreCell and Everest, upgrade CoreCell to the latest version. MSI released a new version in December that corrected the temp issue. My CoreCell temp readings matched Everest after upgrading.

Yeah, thanks...what I did was installed MBM5 and it showed the CPU temp at 38oC. I have heard that this is the more accurate temperature and thus everything is kosher. Is that true?

True, when I bought it, I was not looking for anything extreme...just something a little better (and quieter) than the retail HSF. I have to say I am very pleased with the inaudibility of the Silent Boost and am now, with the (hopefully) accurate readings, plan to do moderate overclocking...of course that has run into its own hiccup (details in the other thread I posted here).
