I am going tomorrow to a store in town to lie down on a tempur pedid bed. Have you tried it? Is it really worth it? I saw the prices on eBay and it is ridiculous. They range from 1000 to 3000.

I had one. It's not a scam exactly, IMO they do provide the best sleep. However they're overpriced and don't last very long. Latex foam is longer lasting and cheaper than tempur-pedics, and virtually the same - it's what I'd recommend.

We bought one a couple of months ago. We had them take it back and we got a regular bed with a TP pillow top. The TP bed bothered my neck and we tried different pillows.

There used to be a really long thread in hot deals about this mattress. I'm thinking about getting something like it in the near future. I can't seem to find a comfortable position in bed that doesn't make one of my arms fall asleep. I admit that some of that may be due to contorting myself so as not to suffocate my cats.

I'd highly recommend getting a more traditional (quality) mattress, and get a thick topper for it instead. The full foam ones are nice, but totally overpriced for what they offer, and some people don't like them at all because they tend to be too soft. Using a topper on a normal spring mattress seems to work well for most people, and Overstock.com had a fantastic deal on them a while back, may still.

They also have the 10" full mattress if you want, cheaper than a TP

I wonder how an isoform would be on a sleep number?
What's ATOTs collective opinion on sleep number beds?

$1000 for a matress? Wow! Most expensive one we ever got was a king pillow top from Costco $600. Our guests love it! I can't sleep on it much too soft so it got moved. ..Still using non-pillow top harder $500 model they sell.

yes, we had to get new sheets for all 3 beds, i searched for a couple months and my wife finally stumbled on a "clearance" bin at walmart that had a bunch of "deep pocket" (up to 18") sheet sets on sale, so we picked up 2 per bed

even our full size bed with a pillow top (16" mattress) with the 2.5" foam topper is fine with the new "Deep pocket" (18") sheets

not a scam, just expensive. there are cheaper memory foam mattresses out there, but they use less dense foam which makes them less expensive

i bought a 3" memory foam mattress topper from overstock.com for about 130 bucks. it was king size so i folded in half and now i have 6"... works great and much cheaper than getting an actual mattress

tp is hypo-allergenic, which means no more bed bugs, that's a big deal for all. You know...the bugs that cause back acne and respiratory allergies.

I'm not sure if the other mattresses are like that..if you're going to spend close to $1000 for one, it better be hypo-allergenic...

imagine your $1000 mattress having those bugs growing in them within 3 months...and no matter how clean you are, those bugs will live in your mattress.

tp mattress is an environment where these bugs can't survive.

something to think about.

me personally, I don't like them. I think my body falls too far into the foam and actually bend in an un-natural state. which causes me back and neck pains. Also, it keeps too much heat. I wouldn't have a problem with it in the winter time. but I would hate to sleep in a super heated bed during the summer...that would suck.

I do like the fact that the bugs can't survive in it though....that's a big plus for me.

I like tempurpedic mattresses and have slept very nicely on them but they are very expensive. I've had a tempurpedic pillow for years and can't imagine using anything else except in an emergency or travel situation.

I just ordered a foam bed from a place that manufacturers these and sells them on ebay. It looks to be a decent knockoff with top layer of 5.3lb foam which is exactly the same density as the TP. I am hoping it shows up this week.

You know you are getting old when you get wood over a new mattress, lol.

Crazyfool, can you name or link to that company? I'm planning to buy a new mattress and I will like to try one of those new ones.

I stayed at a Marriott a few weeks ago that had some rooms with temper pedic matresses. My brother and I spent more time sleeping on the beds than vacationing because we liked them so much. I'm seriously considering one, but might go with a cheaper option.

When you get yours and sleep on it a while, be sure and post an update. My only concern is the warranty.
