Have you bought one?

I bought one about 6 months ago. I had a regular mattress before this one. I find it extremely comfortable. I always get a great nights sleep on it... hardly any tossing and turning,
While asleep at night, it will make a nice mold to your body, which makes it so damn comfy by the morning that you'll have to fight yourself to get out of bed. The only downside is that it takes a while (maybe 10 mins) to "heat up" the bed, and until then I find it a little stiff. I'm 6' and about 165-170, so I'd imagine heavier people may not have this problem.

Quality wise, isoforms are very similar to TP. If you do some research, you'll find there are some number (foam density, etc) that indicate quality on a foam mattress. Isoform's numbers are nearly identical to TP. Beware of some of the other knock off brands, they really reduce the quality to sell a cheaper product.

I spent ~1000 dollars for the mattress, box spring, and shipping.

tp is hypo-allergenic, which means no more bed bugs, that's a big deal for all. You know...the bugs that cause back acne and respiratory allergies.

I'm not sure if the other mattresses are like that..if you're going to spend close to $1000 for one, it better be hypo-allergenic...

imagine your $1000 mattress having those bugs growing in them within 3 months...and no matter how clean you are, those bugs will live in your mattress.

tp mattress is an environment where these bugs can't survive.

something to think about.

me personally, I don't like them. I think my body falls too far into the foam and actually bend in an un-natural state. which causes me back and neck pains. Also, it keeps too much heat. I wouldn't have a problem with it in the winter time. but I would hate to sleep in a super heated bed during the summer...that would suck.

I do like the fact that the bugs can't survive in it though....that's a big plus for me.

What? Hypo-allergenic doesn't mean that it kills bed bugs. Where did you read that nonsense? You're probably confused with a method used to treat bed bug-infested mattresses. You buy a hypo-allergenic mattress cover and put the mattress in it, not because the thing kills the bugs, but because it is so tightly knit that that neither the nits nor the adults can escape... sealing them inside and preventing them from biting you.

edit: lol, necro thread.

My father owns a mattress company, and I feel like this is a continual thing.

Tempurpedic is not proprietary, we make the exact same thing as Tempur, we get it from the same supplier, it is absolutely identical. However, we sell at 1/4 of the price. They have to pay for the advertising somehow...

Memory foam comes in a variety of densities, we make custom firmnesses by using different density combinations, and even his/her side mattresses out of memory foam. Id recommend a non-tempur brand, just ask for the desnity specs and make sure you're getting the same thing.

Latex is worth looking into as well, I've slept on a huge range of latex and/or memory foam beds over the years. My favorite is one of our combo latex/memory foam beds, the best of both worlds.

Damn, 5 years ago people didn't know the difference between dust mites and bed bugs?

no one, anywhere, really thought of bed bugs until the recent outbreaks.

probably a common and understandable misconception for many, many years.

I love our Tempurpedic. Extremely comfortable, don't want to get up once I'm laying down. Wife and I were very concerned about heat, as we like to sleep with it very cold. No issues, and we live in S. Florida.

I was skeptical at first, but I don't think I'd go back to a regular mattress at this point.

EDIT: We bought the Rhapsody model, which was... not cheap.
