When you get yours and sleep on it a while, be sure and post an update. My only concern is the warranty.
Update: I received the "MEMORY FOAM 5.3lb density" mattress and the 2 free pillows yesterday and slept on them last night. To say I am impressed is an understatement. This mattress is every bit as good as a Tempur-Pedic. The pillows are even BETTER than my old TP pillow.

This mattress is a perfect copy of the TP mattress. It is very firm and it takes a few minutes for the body to settle into it but once you do it is simply awesome(this is my exact experience with every TP mattress I have slept on).

I was worried that this thing might be crap but it's every bit as good as the real thing that goes for 4 times as much dough. I would buy another one without hesitation. The pillows made it an incredible deal.

About a year ago, my wife purchased a feather topper for our bed. For quite a few months, it was incredibly comfortable - more comfortable than our mattress had been. But, as time has gone on, it's gotten less comfortable. We sent it to the cleaners, it came back fluffy, but became unfluffy even quicker; the feathers tended to get bunched together, leaving "lumpy" areas...

Looking for a tempurpedic type of topper now...
Recommendations? I tried crazyfool's link, but they didn't have toppers.

I got mine from foambymail.com ... It's just a slab of raw foam, no cover or anything, but it was the cheapest available at the time (2 years ago)

Oh, and if you go to ebay and search for "sensus" you will eventually find a guy running auctions that have a bit of interesting information about memory foam and ebay sellers of said foam. Not that it's particularly *useful* information, but interesting read nonetheless.

Got a memory foam topper from Target for $150, and a pillow for about $30. Works great, really comfortable.

Yeah, Sleep Number > Tempur.

One thing I hear about Tempur is that if its gets HOT when the weather is warm. No thanks!

I'm not sure if the other mattresses are like that..if you're going to spend close to $1000 for one, it better be hypo-allergenic...

imagine your $1000 mattress having those bugs growing in them within 3 months...and no matter how clean you are, those bugs will live in your mattress.

tp mattress is an environment where these bugs can't survive.

Unless you wash your sheets, like, once a YEAR, bed bugs are not a problem on any mattress. And how would they cause acne?

Also, hypo-allergenic doesn't mean it kills bugs. It means it doesn't cause allergies.

Tempur Pedic mattresses are designed for people that have air conditioning when it's hot out too.

Latex is very similar to Polyurethane, I don't know which you'd be able to find cheaper, but either one should work very well.

Keep in mind that Tempur Pedics are Polyurethane, and while they're not a scam, they are over-priced. You can find mattresses made of the identical material for a fraction of the cost.

They typically refer to these as 'memory foam' mattresses, and they're not hard to find. If you're browsing eBay, search 'memory foam' and you'll find the prices are very reasonable.

I love it. I fell asleep trying it out in the store. Most comfortable matress I've ever tried in my life.
Dunno about the knockoffs. But i've seen cheap knock off pillows in stores and it does not feel the same.

The foam desnsity is simply not the same....

I've spent a few nights in a row on one and I must disagree.

I bought a "knockoff" that has the same 5.3lb per cubic ft. density top layer and it seems every bit as good as the original TP. I have slept on a real Tempur-Pedic more than a couple times so I am qualified to make this comparison.

I haven't slept this good in years.

I heartily recommend the knockoff brand I linked to earlier in this thread or the original Tempur-Pedic if you are a price snob. The knockoff brand pillow is actually superior to the TP pillow which was also a surprise to me.

I just want to point out that sometimes when you get a new mattress or new pillows, whatever, you just sleep better. It might not necessarily have to do with the new mattress, just the change of pace sometimes does it for me.

I was looking a couple years ago when my waterbed died, and almost bought a TP bed, but I asked around about it, and heard about the heat problem so I passed on it and got a sleep number bed. I like it a lot, but there are some things I don't like much:

1. It's way overpriced, $1100 for a bed basically made out of garbage can plastic is too much.

2. Compressor is very noisy, and if you don't sleep alone, WILL wake the other person up if you use it.

3. Too lightweight, moves around too easy.

4. Instructions were a joke, and holes weren't punched large enough for screws to go into them, and so it made assembly needlessly difficult.

The first week I had it was torture, I was about to send it back, then suddenly, I actually felt comfortable on it, and it's been ok since then.

A friend bought a TP and all he does is complain about how hot it is, summer and winter. His wife loves it.

TP and other foam beds can be warm... since I have gotten my new memory foam bed I sleep best naked.

My wife and I bought a king size and love it. It was priced about the same as any quality king size bed. We have had it for 2 years now and I sleep alot better on it than any beds in the past, my wife agrees too. Plus its nice becasue I am 6'2" 250 and my wife is 5'2" 108 and with a regular mattress she would always roll into because the bed would sink on my side. Its very durable to, we have a spoiled black lab that always is in our bed plus 3 cats. Personally I think its a great bed! Good luck!

The term "hypo-allergenic" can be misleading. It typically implies that only the material is hypo-allergenic. i.e. the filling of a mattress or pillow. It does not mean that bed bugs will not get in, as that's nearly impossible. All mattress's will get bed bugs. Some more then others.

^ i aagree, sometimes its just that new fresh smell and difference in body angle, height and firmness. sometimes even a new sheet can do the trick but u was actually looking for something that will not let me move a lot. Ever since i was a kid i slept on my stomach and i would put my hands on my chest, unfortunately when u get older and bigger it tends to cut the blood flow and i swear sometimes i wake up and i wiggle my hands like... like Ace ventura with a dart in his ass. The point is I want to stay in 1, well maybe not 1 but the least amount of positions as possible that I think I am going with a tempur, will let u guys know how it works out.

Any more input from ATOT on Tempur-Pedic owners?

I'm seriously thinking about getting one in a few months.

Actually, CVSIN and I were trying out beds for our place. We tried out one of those sleep number beds... they are pricey, but damn it was a really nice bed, and the feature they have for being able to adjust the firmness and softness of the bed on your side was pretty cool. I think I would put my money on a sleep number bed before I would on a Tempurpedic bed. Just my .02

We have an expensive mattress that is quite comfortable. When we put a memory foam pad on top it turned into a little slice of heaven. the only downside is that they are damn hot as so much of tyour body gets wrapped in what is essentially foam insulation.

We put the mat on our fold out couch and people actually LIKE to sleep on it.

Yea, those memory foam pads are pretty good not sure I would want a bed made out of it. However I looked at the pad too.. I bet you could lay it on the floor and it would be just as comfortable.
