Tenant Fatally Stabs Teen Burglary Suspect...

SAYREVILLE, N.J. -- A man fatally stabbed a teenage burglary suspect who was trying to flee from his second-floor apartment on Saturday, Sayreville police said.

Roda LaMarche grabbed a knife after calling police to report a burglary on Saturday, police said.

One suspect got away, but LaMarche grabbed 17-year-old Carlos Pagan's leg and stabbed him several times, said Middlesex County Prosecutor Bruce Kaplan.

Pagan got out of a window and ran off before collapsing with a punctured artery about a quarter mile away, police said.

Authorities were seeking the second suspect. The stabbing was under review.

If it was assault, I wouldn't feel to badly for the kid. But it was burglary, and the guy really didn't need to stab him so many times

Being stabbed in the leg several times might not kill you, but it was the punctured artery that did him in.


Manslaughter/murder, even accidental or unintentional, is nothing to laugh at or gloat over.

Just once. The tenant was probably aiming to kill the kid, otherwise he woouldn't stab multiple times. That, or he was using a really dull knife. I'm not saying the tenant should be punished or anything, but he should have used better discretion, even in a situation like that.

agreed...humans blow off killing until it happens close to them, then the laws need to be changed or vengence must be had

Better ban all knives now... they can hurt people. Even when people are breaking into your home, stealing, and putting you at risk... defending yourself is bad. If we didn't have any knives, then we'd all be safer.

The tennant should go to jail for that crap. You use a knife for self defense - you don't chase after a fleeing person. Obviously the kid shouldn't be robbing him, but there was no reason that he had to die.

Reason: He was in someone elses home illegaly....sounds like a good enough reason to me. What's the difference in that and shooting someone that broke into your house in the back?
