Does anybody know where i can find a good forum to talk to people about tennis? Something good like AT? I really want to buy a stringing machine, but don't know what to get. I also tried looking for sites where people have posted reviews of string machines, but have not been able to find anything. I've been googling for the last week, and besides tenniswarehouse.com (a pretty good site) i haven't found anything else. Anybody have suggestions? I know people find good forums for anything these days. For your specific model bike, for your car, for xbox modding, for swapping crazy DDR (dance dance revolution) stories. I guess it's just a matter of knowing the right one. And i don't know of any. Thanks.

If anybody has any advice on good string machines, that'd be great too. I'm looking for something under 1000, but one that is electric. I don't want that manual tension crap. Oh yeh...and i've never strung my own before.

If you guys have any specific machine experience that'd be great too.

Where do you get your racquets strung? I used to get mine at the local Sports Authority. It took me several years to decide that they suck, and now get it done at my local racquet club.

Also, i'm looking at the new Babolat AeroPro drive. It looks pretty hot. Anybody try it out yet?

Tennis Warehouse is the best I've seen. As far as stringing machines, Gamma and Babolat make very nice ones. I didn't need one of those fancy ones and got the good old reliable Klippermate with the drop weight system. It does the job for me and my friends - better than when I used to take my frames to Sports Authority (They used a Babloat machine). But it depends on the stringer as much as the stringing machine. If you take your time and learn the right way, the manual systems (whether drop weight or crank) will do fine. But if you need to do a lot of frames - like a business, the motorized ones are the way to go. Another thing - If you string oversize frames, get a machine with 4 or 6 point mounting system - less chance of frame distortion. My Klipper only has a 2-point - I noticed some bowing on my OS frames. Not a problem with the Mid/Mid Plus frames.

Yeh, i hear the gamma machines are pretty good. But they seem expensive. I am desperate to find some reviews about these machines.

Do you know where i can find info on the babolat machines? I heard they were pretty good too, but i didn't find any info at all about their string machines on the babolat website.

gamma machines are the ones to get as I have also been looking at this...Eagnas is a nightmare brand so avoid them...you also want to get a 6 pt unit..better for the racquet when stringing and no binding. Here is a site I found and read/post to.

(I would take this with a grain of salt as it is Eagans review but all post state that this stringing machine is crap)

Thanks. The Austin Tennis site looks pretty good. I'll start posting on there. The Midwestern site has the Gamma X-ES for 900. Plus shipping 30, plus i'd get the string calibration tool for 30, plus tax which would probably come out to around 1000. I don't know if that's a good investment since i've never strung a racquet before, and unfortunately i don't think i can find many people who i can make money off by stringing their racquets. If i buy this one, i figured it'll take me 25 stringings (right now i pay $35 per pop, so 1000/35= ~30) to break even on this machine.

Have you ran into reviews about this particular machine anywhere? Also, you know where i can find info on babolat string machines?

You can get strings for $5 a set on Ebay which is linked to retailers...I saw that when I was planning on buying a stringer...I just had to postphone the purchase a bit. I personally think the gamma table top models are a decent price at a few hundred $, thats what I will be getting. Maybe do a google on Babolat units.

I saw this thread and immediately thought "I haven't seen the term RoXors since maybe 2005. I'm surprised people still use it".

I got pwned.
