I'm loving the game so far. I'm a warrior but wish I would have made a berzerker after seeing their damage output in level 36+ dungeons, holy cow!

Just started playing this game with my gf this weekend and we are in love with it. The combat system in this game is the best I've tried 'til date.

I play a lancer and tanking in this game is in a completely different league compared to every other mmo i've tried. I've never been so immersed and engaged as a tank when running instances/dungeons. I'm not sure what the game looks like from a DPS POV so I cannot comment if the combat is as revolutionary as it is for a tank but I hope so! Otherwise, you DPS'ers are missing out

Also, does anyone know how slayers compare to berserkers? I played one in the beta up until around level 10 and the big difference I saw was dodge vs blocking and berserkers get to charge skills. Do berserkers do more damage than slayers or are they pretty close to each other?

Berserkers do more damage per hit than slayers, but slayers are quicker. In the end I hear they are pretty equiv as far as DPS goes. It's basically just play style.

Would you rather have a plate class that blocks attacks vs a leather class that dodges attacks? Would you rather have a big ass axe chop vs a quicker great sword attack?

Another thing to mention. Slayers have the ability to knockdown an opponent, which would be critical in PVP to prevent bad guys from running.. Berserkers have this but it's a charge ability which means by the time it goes off, the player is more likely to be out of range.

I'm by no means an expert...more like I'm a perpetual lowbie, but from what I understand, zerkers hit slow, but big. Slayers are lower damage per blow, but faster attacking, combo oriented? I remember someone saying that Slayers give more burst damage, while zerkers give more constant damage. No clue if thats true though. Maybe someone whos's actually higher level, more knowledgable, or both can give you a proper answer.

Zerkers do wear plate, and have a block skill. I havent seen anyone actually claim zerkers can tank though (although I think the actual game description says they can offtank?). I'm guessing they are both considered dps classes.

Hrm, I think slayers wear leather too, iirc. Berserkers on the other hand, wear plate.

End game they do around the same damage, Slayers are more mobile and attack faster while Zerks hit slowly with huge blows. Slayers are one of if not the best class in pvp as well.

Thanks for the replies, I'm having a lot more fun playing a slayer since they're faster paced so it's good to know they're pretty close DPS-wise. As for pvp I thought they would be pretty good at it after looking at some of the skills they get, they have a couple stuns plus a knockdown which is alreays great for pvp.

I've already canceled my account. Why I decided to buy this game, I'll never know but I definitely wasted my money. If you remove the so called action combat, this game is just like every other Korean MMO out there. I was never a fan of the art style (never have been) so I couldnt get comfortable with the character designs.

People kept saying to stick it out until 20, but why should I have to play 20 levels of crap to get to the "good" part? The questing system is so mind-numbingly monotonous I just couldn't take it anymore. I'm so tired of killing boars in video games. Leave the boars alone!

I know the feeling, to be honest since Muds went 3D and the very first ones came outin the lat 90's the quest system has went unchanged. Its either kill XX or kill till so many things drop. They very it up with some -player must enter this area- stuff.. and really what else can they do? I pretty much play them all too and get Burned out quickly. Only thing going for htis game is a new combat style, which I do like. And they are all correct.. its almost boring at low levels (its far to easy) this changes when you get past 20.. and you mention why? well I think its becuase a average MMORPG playe goes from 1-endgame in weeks now, not months. Most freinds i played with where 20 in the first full day.. its so you can learn the new combat and not get frustrated.. as later in game its alot more challangeing (well, depending on the class... i can pretty much do anything with my lancer).

I agree, but with reservations.. nothing new .. agree.. still fun -IF- you enjoy the combnat.. if you dont.. yep.. old and boring quickly.

Getting to lvl 20 is not that long. Especially if you ask others to run quests with you. I have found a lot of people are willing to join parties and tear through the quests. Also, you don't have to do every single quest. There are more quests available than one ever needs to reach lvl 20; so if, for example, you hate escort quests just skip it and move on. Only have to do the story quests.

Have had several guild members unsure about the game until they reached the first dungeon. After that they are hooked.

It takes about 9-10 hours to get to level 20 if you blaze through the quests ASAP. I've been playing a slayer and definitely in the higher level dungeons its a pain to dodge damage. Some attacks you have to hit dodge right away. Some attacks you can't dodge right away as the windup animation takes so long you will be out of your dodge before the attack goes off.

This is true. Combat is definately a love or hate thing. I enjoy it, as does my mmo partner in crime (wife). Unfortunately, if you duo all the standard quests, it is extremely easy, and therefore can be dull. But at 20 when you enter the Bastion of Lok, it ramps up alot and becomes a challenge. We'll keep our accounts for now.

What server you guys on? I am on Blightwood and the game is a lot of fun so far.

I started with a warrior its 23 then switched to a Sorcerer, enjoying it so far and up to lvl 26. Game just feels and plays different then the same ole mmo, at least to me.

Just transferred from Blightwood to Dragonfall, have a 30ish Lancer gonna work on Berzerker or Mystic; figured I'll be on a more popular server since D3 is gonna snatch a big chunk of the population.

Good luck on that server. I played there before I threw in the towel and your ignore list will fill up pretty quick on Dragonfall.

I call it the barrens Effect.. every game has the "this is IRC not a game" people that spam the chat channels looking or some feedback that they are still relevent.. it may just be my imagination.. but this game seems to have alot of people who have no lives spamming the chat channels excessively. i wonder if age, or lack of memory si my issue.. but i dont remeber this stuff in UO, EQ, etc.. I guess when WoW sucked in the everyman player ( good thing or we wouldnt have 1000 MMORPG's to pick from) it just increased. I do miss actual game information in those channels.. instead of if my granmother is still sexually active.

The mobs literally have triple the HP. Everything took three times as long to kill and for the first time playing I felt it was really grindy and actually stopped questing/playing. I was in queue for a dungeon for about an hour to break up the monotony and did not get in. Was disappointing.

I might move to Dragonfall this weekend seems to be a busy server. I think the Dungeon is messed up or just takes forever, i normally just get in a group through chat and does not take long.

Game is fun everyone i talked into playing so far is enjoying it.

yea the mid 50's is where it starts getting much harder, with mobs being stronger etc.

The problem with the LFD tool right now is that they don't let Warriors q up as tanks (because it is rather difficult and many warriors suck at it). So as it is right now the only tanks are Lancers, while there are 2 healing classes and 5 DPS classes. Lancers and Healers get insta-queued, dps has to wait awhile usually.

I play on Jagged Coast, has been pretty decent so far cept for this annoying guild "White Knights" who think it is their job to kill anyone flagged as outlaws. They are pretty much at war with every other non-carebear guild on the server. And they hide their Guild Leader in Vielika so he can never be killed in a GvG battle.

Oh, there used to be plenty of that on Everquest, at least on Xegony. It was called dreadlands chat long before the barrens existed

At 30 i have not really spent a lot of time with Glyphing, crystals or enchants yet. I have a lvl 22 blue weapon that is +5 atm that i have failed the +6 about 20 times on, at 30 things are just about on par with it now but still using it for the bonus's.

Don't even bother with enchanting lower level. You'll replace it every 1-2 levels for sure.

Around mid-30's I started buying gold weapons from AH. They are cheap and make a huge difference.

Dont bother enchanting it any further as you will most likely replace it. Also you cannot enchant past 6 without spending money on the more expensive alkahest, either pink or blue, the normal alkahest wont work past +6
