Going F2P, will give this a whirl. Giving this low expectation after the GW2 hype, hope it's worth the 9hr download.

Oh yes it is worth a download. The combat is a lot of fun if you have a group to do dungeons with. Now that it is going ftp I may have to start playing again.

edit: I quit before because endgame sucked and the community was awful.

A question to those playing TERA for a longer time, it is a game created by Koreans right? They have a tendency to have a heavy focus on grinding, how is this in TERA?

I haven't played since the first month of launch.

But. It was the typical quest grinding MMO. If you followed the quests, you'd just kill 10 rats over and over and level like you would in any other MMO, and level up the same. No different than WoW or Rift or EQ2 or (any recent MMO.)

That's not quite what I meant, let me rephrase.

If you compare most of the MMOs especially those from Korea WoW doesn't have a grind focus at all. In fact, WoW has become very casual. I'm talking about the end-game. WoW original, TBC had a pretty heavy grind focus, I can still remember the days spending days, weeks, months at Tyr's Hand grinding the same mob to get a certain item/gold or PvP endlessly to get rank 14. WoW has changed a lot, you can get away with playing casually and still reach a decent level and obtain pretty much the best gear (in pvp at least).

I remember a friend told me about AION for example, it was pretty much just grinding and more grinding. Don't really like that playstyle, so I'm wondering about TERAs endgame!

Looks like there's not much difference, only thing that might be of value is the bank slot increase. True/false?

yeah not too much of a difference. the only other plusses (for me) would be the +20 brokerage postings. And you can send an unlimited amount of god via parcel vs 10 gold.

They'll just be discontinuing digital sales of the game on Feb 5th but you might be able to pick up cheap physical copy somewhere and still activate founder status after the 5th.

Every MMO has a grindy end game. That's the only way to keep people subscribed really. The leveling process in TERA is nothing like the grindy Korean games in the past. Lineage was brutal, Aion was slightly less so, and TERA is much more like WoW in respect to how quickly you level up.

The problem for me was that there wasn't much to do once you got there. It's worth playing for anyone who's an MMO fan though. They really created something unique and special with the combat system. The rest of the game falls short in that it's very standard MMO fare without any great addictive feature to keep people into it. PvP really felt like an afterthought compared to something like Aion or GW2.
