My wife dislikes T2 because she doesn't like the villain. She never saw T2 as a kid, so she only can view it with a modern perspective.
I watched it recently and it went like this:
Her: "How can it be a robot made of goo? Where is its CPU, or any of its circuitry if it is all goo?"
Me: "It just is. Maybe they are liquid circuits."
Her: "Liquid circuits, that is stupid. Why didn't anyone care about this when it came out? The villain is so dumb."
Me: "Well, back then baby a dude that could morph into different things was cool enough no one questioned it. If it came out today they would probably explain it all by saying he was made of nanites. But nanites weren't a go-to Sci Fi plot device like they are today. So lets say he is made of nanites."
Her: "But they never said nanites. All they said was he is "mimetic polyalloy" which sounds worse than the made up tech in a Star Trek show. Why didn't anyone care, and why do people this this is such a great movie?"
Me: "Baby, just pretend he is made of nanites if that gets you through the movie. I wanted to watch this with you to show you Sarah's man hating scene or when Arnie cuts down an entire police force with a gun from a helicopter, not to analyze how much we took for granted in the 90's."
