The kid did more than fine in T2. Kids, pre-puberty, can get away with a ton. It's once that voice hoarsens that the good and bad actors really start to show.

Almost any other action film since. T2 still has a lot going for it, but if you've seen even a handful of sci-fi films in the last 23 years, then its not going to be the mind-blowing experience it was when new.

At the time the soundtrack, sound effects and special effects were mind blowing. Still a great movie to watch on a kick ass home theater.

I remember going to it in theaters 4-5 times it was that good.

"Almost any other action film since"

I'll take the lack of a list as evidence you like most of us have seen the many many many many FORGETTABLE action movies that have come out since. But the point is you do remember T2.

Now lets list a few to make sure the suck factor is strong with these ones. Max Payne, Scorpion King, Van Helsing, The Spirit, Jumper just to barely scratch the surface of an extremely long list of sucktatude since T2's release.

Does anyone else even remember these movies? willing to watch them again? or wish you had that time back to use it for something more productive like playing jacks or marbles?

I'm not saying T2 is the best action movie ever, but to say that many recent films are better is quite a stretch.

Definitely agree.

At the time this came out, some of the effects were ground-breaking.

Lots of movies you saw as a kid is awful when you rewatch them as adult.

Some movies age terribly--- crappy CGI or crappy & predictable storyline/twist/plot device.

However T2 is STILL fvcking great. I saw them about 5 years ago again... just as good. The special effects are still awesome.

Speaking of which, Jurassic Park rocks too.

I liked Hackers because it contained quite a few real-world things like trashing, social engineering, using manuals to get default passwords and get into systems that weren't properly set up. But then of course skateboarding sysadmin shows up with his 3D mainframe and several other glaring tech issues. But it was an enjoyable movie overall with a great sound track and a young Angelina Jolie.

The aliases used still make me cringe though, along with the "hacker fight" early in the movie and it's one liners.

You were probably being sarcastic though. At least it's not 'The Net' where the main character couldn't even be coached to say modem correctly.

I wasn't being sarcastic.

The truck scene in the irrigation still holds it's own. That was live action, no CGI there. Today everything is so CGI, doesn't have the same appeal or impact.

Similar to when The Matrix was released. At the time it really was mind blowing, jaw dropping, holy shit that's awesome kinda good.

I knew it had to have won some academy awards. The movie was seriously ground breaking. Go watch Blade Runner and then say "ho-hum, this thing sucks" You have to remember when it came out and just how far ahead of it's time the film was.

Best Cinematography Adam Greenberg Nominated [36]
Best Make Up Stan Winston and Jeff Dawn Won
Best Sound Tom Johnson, Gary Rydstrom, Gary Summers and Lee Orloff Won
Best Sound Editing Gary Rydstrom and Gloria S. Borders Won
Best Visual Effects Dennis Muren, Stan Winston, Gene Warren Jr. and Robert Skotak Won
Film Editing Conrad Buff, Mark Goldblatt and Richard A. Harris Nominated

T1 was totally freaking awesome. And it still is.

When I first saw T2 in the theaters I thought it was decent, but it wasn't as novel as T1, for obvious reasons. The main thing about T2 was the impressive special-effects, but the concept of T1 was far superior. That's what I felt when the movie came out and that's what I still feel now.

As for Blade Runner, when I saw movie in the theaters, I thought the voiceovers were bloody irritating. Only later did I find out that the director thought the same thing and cut out all the voiceovers later with the director's cut.

Harlan Ellison was ripped off and finally given props at the end finally on T1, what made it good concept on the story, FTW.

Not that had never happened before.

Forbidden Planet, if you want to get really old school but of course I wasn't born then.

That and the release of the old "The Day the Earth stood Still" in BluRay very good, the original not the Will Smiths kid being all whining one.

Dr Strangelove still one of my all time favorites.

Earlier Stanley Kubrick, then 2001, The Shining, Full Metal Jacket.

many others I actually Eyes Wide Shut myself thought good myself, many didn't.

I liked AI too, he had Spielberg promise to make that for him when he was dieing.

Overpowered T-1000 kinda bothers me. I wish they went with the alternate ending and saved us from the sequels.

Dr. Strangelove is one of my fave movies of all time too.
I didn't like AI that much. OK at best.

I thought T3 was OK, although the weakest of the first 3.

Salvation was just stupid though. I guess McG's success in TV (Supernatural, Chuck) didn't translate well to big screen direction.
