That is easily the best line ever.

No, T4 is going to ruin it. Did you watch the video and the circumstance with which it was said? Why not just have some man on man kissing while a T-600 is trying to kill us. Ya, I ned to be told to run?

Is it any worse then the line "I have a bad feeling about this" in the Star Wars movies?

It's something people are used to and expect to happen in series like this.

well it is laughable in what context? the flying ships that hover basically 100% of the time? even if those were nuclear powered they aren't going to be stealthy. anything within 20 miles is going to hear it comin

THe harvester is fine. THe motorcycle thing though. It is going to be laughable. A 4 wheeled vehicle of some sort, fine but not a 2 wheeled thing that will defy physics in film. Why not just make a lightweight Termintor that can run fast? Something like a cougar. 40 mph speed but all terrain. It's obvious to me? Why is a motorcycle obvious? If one chased me, I'd just head for the hills. Maybe it "transforms".

My assumption is Judgment day just recently happened and motorcycle's were around and the machines simply used their design and built off it since everything else they have is like that and it's small enough to carry around versus a 4 wheeled SUV, not to mention how expensive gas is then.

I love how us nerds are making up the backstory for the film-makers. They should just read AT for all plot explanations.

This. I'll be watching it no matter what the reviews are, because of the Bale mancrush.

Well whenever it showed those in the parts of the movies or TV shows you could always hear the noise they made.

Only if we get payed the big bucks.

But some people take these things way to seriously and they can't get the fact that as someone said it's fiction.

You think after WWIII that they have records tracing back to his great-great grandfather? In the first movie they weren't even sure which Sarah Connor in Los Angeles was his mother, so the Terminator was killing all of them.

Watched the footage and looked at the designs. The Mototerminators or whatever they are called look stupid. The Harvester design is silly, not at all practical for retrieving large numbers of humans to work in the labor camps (as per Reese's comments in the first movie). The HK (Hunter-Killer) Mark IV is now just called a Hunter-Killer? What happened to the Mark I-III designs we saw in flashbacks of the future in the other movies? Where the Hell are the SkyCav units? :brokenheart:

EDIT: The Hydrobot looks like a (stupid) rip-off of the Silverfish from T2 that were going to be shown if they had the budget to do the extended future intro. You can see them in the future sequence of the T2 arcade game.

shotgun steven,

The Terminator franchise expert ;-)

The hydrobots are another stupid plot device. Now we are supposed to be scared whenever people go in water? Pathetic.

There was a wealth of Terminator universe material that didn't make it onto the screen, but I was hopeful that James Cameron would return to the franchise and we would finally get the Terminator: Future War so many of us had been hoping for. This looks like it will be a poor substitute.

I don't know if the other material just wasn't shared with the people doing the new movie, or if it was and they ignored it.

Sorry, IHateMyJob, I accidentally hit Edit instead of Quote on your post.

HOLY SHIT!

That footage looks awesome!

Bale already brought one franchise back from the dead.

I think he can do it again.

i know i was just addressing the "without the initial attack on Sarah Connor then Skynet would never have existed" part. Remember in T3 the T-101 kept saying judgment day is inevitable and we find out skynet is a computer virus? All I'm saying is that Skynet is inevitable due to technological advancement and the inevitable invention of artificial intelligence. I think the Terminator writers are implying that no matter what AI will turn against humans.

Skynet is AI. In an effort to stop a nasty computer virus, the USAF allows the Skynet system to attempt to eradicate the virus from the network. This allows Skynet to spread to all systems on the network...like a virus.

Except Skynet was the virus. It had become self-aware and shut down the army's control, but it couldn't take control (we don't know why) without the command from the general. Once it was given access, it "eliminated" the virus and took over all systems.

IIRC
Sky Net wasn't the virus, SkyNet created the virus in order to get the humans to give it the access it needed to take over.

You recall wrong. Skynet was the virus presumably only in civilian cyberspace, and the General's order basically allowed it access to all systems (military) to launch nukes.

Wait a minute then something doesnt make sense. Remember skynet didn't have a mainframe. Since it was on basically everyones computer wouldn't launching a nuke basically destroy itself.

T4 can't suck any worse than T3. Keep in mind that T3 took the central theme of the 1st two movies and did a complete 180. In essence the T3 director just thumbed his nose at the Terminator cannon and crapped on it.

"The future's not set. There's no fate but what we make for ourselves." John Connor famous quote. He made Reese relay that to his mother. In turn his mother relay that to him.

So who else thinks they know how they will show Arnold's face?

My guess is near the end of the movie and the resistance are talking about hearing reports of a new model of terminator and then it switches to a inside of a factory making them and as it scrolls around one that is mostly machine it reveals the other side and it's the governors face.

That's pretty funny.

I imagine they'd avoid Arnold's design and plotline to keep the "future war" open for sequels. The second they introduce time travel, they've connected T4 back to T1.

Why would it suck? I realize ATOT hated T3, but it was generally very well accepted, and I thought it was a great movie. It's certainly a lot better than the crap TV show they're currently trotting out.

Two reasons why it could suck. 1) McG's directing and 2) the same writing team that did T3 is also penning this script.

A little OT, but in Dilbert the other day their company's spam filter became self-aware.

TERMINATOR 3 DIDN'T SUCK. It wasn't as good as T2 obviously, but it blew T1 out of the water, and that includes writing-wise.
