Show me the proof that its her wish NOT to die with dignaty. For a guy who's WAY over here you sure seem to know a hell of a lot about very PRIVATE conversations between Schiavo and HER husband reguarding this matter. Since she can't speak all we have is her husbands word on what she said.

There are SO many Republican HYPROCRISY'S in this matter it boggles the mind.

I think it's appalling that such a simple decision had to be made from the Courts.

This is akin to asking a stranger to wipe your ass for you because you can't do it yourself.

Bush Hypocrisy on Terri Schiavo Ignored by FOX, the "Real Journalism" Network

While FOX News reporters fall over each other trying to prove their concern for the life of Terri Schiavo, nobody is reporting about the cases in Texas where life support is being removed by hospitals over the objections of family members. The law allowing that to happen was signed in 1999 by then-governor George W. Bush.

Lest anyone thinks this is a case of Bush "evolving" in his opinions, just five days ago a Texas hospital removed life support from a baby over the objections of his mother. Yet Bush never made a peep. Neither did FOX News.....

The Schindlers will be appealing to the 13th Court in Atlanta, GA. Word has it, it is a very conservative court.

But, considering the very conservative Supreme Court didn't want to touch this case on a number of occasions, I don't think that anything will be overturned.

I thought ALL Judges were bad now, at least that's what the Republicans keep saying.

Well I'm sure they will be screaming even louder now that the Judges are bad.

Amazingly this Judge actually used his BRAIN and can see that it has been determined by capable Doctors that BELIEVE in Science and can clearly see there is no BRAIN left.

This is another Religious "Save The Cells" Campaign.

I love how these BASTARDS call anybody that have made this decision before, murderers. Thousands of families every day have to make this decision. Are they ALL murderers?

Fox will frame it like this... "Some people say that since the judge was a Clinton appointee, that in effect, former President Clinton killed Terri Schiavo. What do you have to say to these people?"

Did you ever stop to think that might be what he wants? You're so arrogant as to think that your own personal views on life sustenance are the only valid ones? Maybe you should try thinking before you so readily mock someone else for their own views, since you're obviating the fact that he's probably thought about this issue a lot more than you have.

What, you want to be kept alive as long as possible too, CycloW?

You really can't say anything to them. If they have followed that conspiracy train, then their minds are already made up.

On a different matter, the only statement I have heard from Schiavo's parents that has actually carried any weight of a conspiracy on the part of her husband is that Terri was Catholic, and that suicide would of been against her belief.

That may be true, but then a recent poll stated that a majority of Catholics polled believe that Terri should be allowed to die. Only conservative and evangelical Protestants were mixed about it.

So you could conclude that many Catholics either dismiss the policy of "suicide is wrong" or that they conclude that Terri is already dead. It would be interesting to hear from other Catholics about this matter...

The poll must be Northern Blue State Catholics only.

I can tell you Catholics down here in the Red States want her body to be kept alive forever.

The Catholics are fast approaching the time when they are going to have to face the same decision with the Super-Pope.

It amazes me what that man has been through - and continues to go through.

On the way home yesterday after work I was listening to NPR & they were talking to one of the lawyers for Michael & Terri,
and the discussion was about what was presented in a court hearing in Florida about 5 or 6 years back about a worst case
senario of her continued failing condition & the future of her prognosis.

The disposition turned to 'what if she were to come down with diabetes, or some other disease that began to destroy her body' -
the question was presented to the parents, who responded that if she had diabetes they would amputate each arm or leg
as necessary to keep her alive.

Then the questioning turned to organ failure as death approached, and the family proposed heart transplants, liver or lung transplants, etc.

This is the time that Micheal decided that her family was out of touch with the reality of the situation, she had been in this state for 9+ years,
and he said - 'I love my wife - I refuse to allow them to cut her up like some laboratory animal to satisfy their own selfish desire to keep her alive
against all chances of hope, she does not deserve to be treated that way, she needs to be allowed to pass from this life in peace.'
(paraphrased)

if i was a vegetable...I personally would want to be put out of my misery....

but realistically how much of a perception of the world around her do you think this poor woman has....she can see but can she actually understand what she sees?

she has now been in this state for what i believe to be around 15 years.....surely she must be bored shitless....must be like a life sentence.....maybe she has the memory of a fish and forgets things every few seconds..........does she actually know the people around her anymore?

Get over the emotions and do what is in the best interests for the woman.... she has no quality of life....let her die (or somehow frame her for a violent murder.....then they would be allowed to kill her in some states)!

What misery? According to Rip living in a vegetative state might just be the best thing since sliced bread

A nurse who treated Terri certainly doesn't believe that she's in a "vegetative state".

Second, Third Nurse Accuse Michael Schiavo

From a sworn affadvit:

"I know that Terri did not receive routine physical therapy or any other kind of therapy. I was personally aware of orders for rehabilitation that were not being carried out. Even though they were ordered, Michael would stop them."

"Michael ordered that Terri receive no rehabilitation or range of motion therapy. I and [another CNA] would give Terri range of motion anyway, but we knew we were endangering our jobs by doing so.

"We usually did this behind closed doors," Law said, because "we were so fearful of being caught ... we were always looking out for Michael, because we knew that, not only would Michael take his anger out on us, but he would take it out more on Terri. We spoke of this many times."

"At least three times during any shift where I took care of Terri, I made sure to give Terri a wet washcloth filled with ice chips, to keep her mouth moistened.

"On three or four occasions I personally fed Terri small mouthfuls of Jello, which she was able to swallow and enjoyed immensely. I did not do it more often only because I was so afraid of being caught by Michael."

Like nurse Iyer, Law suspected that Michael was mistreating Terri, noting in her sworn statement:

"Several times when Michael visited Terri during my shift, he went into her room alone and closed the door. This worried me because I didn?t trust Michael.

"When he left, Terri was very agitated, was extremely tense with tightened fists and sometimes had a cold sweat. She was much less responsive than usual and would just stare out the window, her eyes kind of glassy. ...

"We were convinced that he was abusing her, and probably saying cruel, terrible things to her because she would be so upset when he left."

"The Palm Gardens staff, myself included, were just amazed that a 'Do Not Resuscitate' order had been put on Terri?s chart, considering her age and her obvious cognitive awareness of her surroundings."

An affadvit from another nurse:

"During this assignment I took care of Terri Schiavo several times," Johnson said in her own August 2003 affidavit.

"I learned, as part of my training, that there was a family dispute and that the husband, as guardian, wanted no rehabilitation for Terri. This surprised me, as I did not think a guardian could go against a doctor's orders like that, but I was assured that a guardian could and that this guardian had gone against Terri's doctor's orders."

Johnson recalled: "No one was allowed to just go in and see Terri. Michael had a visitors list. We all knew that we would lose our jobs if we did not do exactly what Michael said to do."

"I remember seeing Michael Schiavo only once the entire time I worked at Sabal Palms, but we were all aware that Terri was not to be given any kind of rehabilitative help, per his instructions.

"Once, I wanted to put a cloth in Terri's hand to keep her hand from closing in on itself, but I was not permitted to do this," Johnson said, "as Michael Schiavo considered that to be a form of rehabilitation."
