You have A Republican on record quoting a bible verse "you reap what you sow". Which in a large part is true. Maybe you are reading into what he said with your own bias.

Was he a registered democrat? I don't know.

I do agree stop the BS.

Yes, he was a registered Democrat. Honestly, that doesn't mean much, you don't have to pass a test or anything.

Any news of the device the guy had? Likely not a bomb since I'd think people would have heard it and it would be reported. Chemical weapon?

Very sad.

i see there is now a #prayforpulse twitter tag

but i don't think they are gonna get very many people praying for what happens at a gay bar

Why? What happens at a gay bar? Is this worse than what happens on any random Sat night in a "hetero bar"? Enlighten us!

You realize that your comment that you think "not many people will be praying there" is pretty much the same as the shooter's motivation...and differs MERELY in its intensity and that the shooter acted on his bigotry...while your bigotry, admittedly milder, is in your mind only and merely voiced on occasion, like here on the forum. The underlying principle however is the same.

** Edit: "stupid" from "stupid comment" deleted, because despite this, you ARE talking the truth. Yes it is true that we can assume some., "many" people not praying because it was a gay bar. Insofar your comment is (factually) correct and not "stupid" per se.

And all of the opposing sides with their opposing agendas will make absolutely certain that the end result of another tragic gun related/Islamic related/terrorist related/blame the other guy related/anti-gay related/Dem against Repub related incident is that things will remain just as they are with no practical solution being advanced toward preventing another horrific shooting spree like the one being discussed in this thread.

Shootings like these will just keep occurring no matter what the motive was simply for the fact that in our nation firearms are, by law and by tradition a consumer product that has more protections than an abused child or spouse.
No, they will keep happening because criminals will be criminals. You cannot explain Paris by crying for gun bans.

Muslims extremeists are 2,000 year old barbarians. Islam needs a reformation.

Gun sales and CC permits to gays and lesbians nationwide are going to skyrocket after this.

I need to give my sister a handgun.

And the Pink Pistols have responded:

Gwendolyn Patton, First Speaker of the Pink Pistols, an international GLBT self-defense organization, warns people not to jump immediately to the assailant’s guns as the object of blame, but to concentrate instead on Mateen’s violent acts.

“The Pink Pistols gives condolences to all family and friends of those killed and injured at Pulse,” began Patton. “This is exactly the kind of heinous act that justifies our existence. At such a time of tragedy, let us not reach for the low-hanging fruit of blaming the killer’s guns. Let us stay focused on the fact that someone hated gay people so much they were ready to kill or injure so many. A human being did this. The human being’s tools are unimportant when compared to the bleakness of that person’s soul. I say again, GUNS did not do this. A human being did this, a dead human being. Our job now is not to demonize the man’s tools, but to condemn his acts and work to prevent such acts in the future.”

Yeah, pretty much because there is no judicial oversight over the watch list and it is as difficult as all fuck to get off of it.

But hey, violating constitutional rights is okay to the left, provided it suits the left.

I could see reasonable concerns about the watchlist. As far as I'm aware it already/still resembles something out of Catch-22.

As the fake saying went, the Constitution is just a piece of paper. It's interpreted and re-interpreted on a daily basis by your courts, and it can be changed. One interpretation is if you can walk and talk, you can own a gun. Another might resemble having restrictions that a reasonable person would agree to.

Why wouldn't we pray for them? That's ridiculous, they are still americans whether they drink, gamble, watch porn or whatever. A lot of our fellow americans are dead and had families, whether we agree/disagree with how they lived life doesn't matter. It's a tragedy, only immature people cannot show compassion to our fallen and their families.

If you are this ethical and reasonable yourself as an individual, then why do you want to vote for someone who is not?

Just wait till there's no oil left. It'll make what's happening in Europe look like trickle. Then the west is fucked.

Might not even need the Middle Eastern immigrants themselves, the North Americans and Europeans might tear themselves up on their own, AKA Okkupert.

No, it wont.

You clearly view it differently, but this country does not have to be an open door mat for Islamic terrorism. We are not mourning because this isn't over. We demand action.

First step is no more refugees.

Guns are a huge part of the problem. This guy couldn't have done what he did without at least 1.

If you really want to do bad things, you do NOT need guns. I don't see any guns in these horrible attacks.

13 dead, over 6,000 injured = http://www.japantimes.co.jp/news/20...y-sarin-attack-on-subway-system/#.V12ZQbsrJhE

168 dead, hundreds injured = http://www.history.com/topics/oklahoma-city-bombing

63 dead, hundreds injured = https://www.cia.gov/news-informatio...ril-18-1983-u-s-embassy-bombed-in-beirut.html

And then the Boston Marathon attack, and on and on.

Also, guns are banned in Mexico and Brazil. How are the gang shootings doing in those two countries, especially big cities?

Shall I go on?

When our ties to the Middle East are severed, then this will be over.

Ok, so what's your proposal then? Ban the use of foreign gasoline (and require all automotive vehicles to switch to renewable energy or pay $30/gallon for gas?) Round up all Muslims and put them in concentration camps (remember, you can't just target Arab Muslims based on appearance, as putting them in camps may piss off white, European, African and Asian Muslims living in the US too!) Should we just abandon Israel and pull all troops and all infrastructure out of the region? How do you propose cutting all ties to the Cradle of Civilization and the root of our Judeo-Christian heritage??

I'm sorry, but I find the "America First" isolationist garbage doesn't apply here.

We argue about guns and Muslims, when the problem is insane ideas. Insane people whispering in the ear of the weak minded, people that follow without thought, people that are easily stirred to hatred. Those ideas and those people are the issue, and they've been enabled by instant worldwide communication. That's what I see as the problem, what I don't see is any way of stopping it.

You actually got close to just that in 2015. But then the NRA and its money and Republican votes (a few Democratic ones too)...

I don't know why so many people have demonized the NRA.

Millions of NRA members came up with $20 million to lobby for their cause, whereas Bloomberg by himself spent $50 million to lobby against them.

Just look at the politicians who took Bloomberg's bribes. . .er "donations" from his organization Mayors Against Illegal Guns:

What Norse meant I believe is that you are not going to be able to isolate this country or the western hemisphere from the ideals of Islam. It is a virus with some pretty primitive doctrine/dogma behind it. As some one else noted above... It is a 2000 year old religion of barbarians that needs to reform/evolve.

Plain and simple... They do not want you to drink, do drugs, be gay, or practice any religious dogma that is not Islam.... And you aren't allowed to be an atheist either. Has nothing to do with oil in the Middle East, or U.S. foreign policy.

Picture yourself in that nightclub. Do you want a solution on your hip, or do you want to be a helpless lamb to the slaughter? The feeling of fighting back, of defending one self, is the source of support for the 2nd amendment.
And arming America to the teeth will result in less bloodshed? It would provide some people in some situations the ability to counter violence, no question about that. But I question the wisdom of allowing every tom dick and harry and hillary to assemble an armory, for home, vehicle, or on their person. In fact I don't think anyone should be able to get their hands on a firearm without serious vetting and continuous control.
We argue about guns and Muslims, when the problem is insane ideas. Those ideas and those people are the issue, and they've been enabled by instant worldwide communication. That's what I see as the problem, what I don't see is any way of stopping it.
So, the only way to stop attacks like this is to keep weapons like this out of their hands.

Can't we all just stop the BS for 3 days and mourn 50 people killed who were just trying to learn salsa dancing???

Agree, it's time for mourning. My condolences to the families/friends of those who were killed and wounded. May the wounded have a speedy recovery.

It's also wise to wait until we have all the info before making any decisions as to what could have prevented this and what can be done to prevent it in the future.

Ahhh America. Where one nut job can do the horrific and people en mass fall all over themselves to lay blame at the feet of millions of others who had nothing to do with it.

I can't tell if you're referring to Islam, gun owners, or both.

Take a look at @igorvolsky's recent Twitter posts and tell me what you think. I do agree that demonizing anyone/anything is rarely useful.
