Weird, it didn't look like he died to me... if you pause it, right after the explosion you can still see him standing there right before the cameraman moved. There's junk flying overhead, sure, but that looks more like debris from what he hit, not him...

Yeah, hitting play pause really fast shows that he actually ran in the opposite direction of the camera. He was fine, miraculously.
