Jay Leno seemed to be babying that car, though. Something tells me that the pre-production model isn't quite that fast.
Because he was driving the dual motor model. Tri motor is still in development. Same tri motor that's going to power the Plaid Model S and the new Roadster.

Same motor, but I doubt the same size battery. That's a huge difference potentially with having a 200+ kwh battery.

Analyst on Tesla's 3rd quarter 2020 earnings call yesterday asked Elon about when we'll see Cybertruck on the road. Elon said we might see some late 2021 if everything goes well at the new Austin Gigafactory. He said 2022 is when we should see significant deliveries. Can't wait!

Elon also tweeted last night that FSD price is going up another $2,000 from $8,000 to $10,000 on all Tesla cars on Monday, October 26, 2020. I'm glad I locked in FSD on my Cybertruck preorder at $7,000.

Just in time for the Mad Max future it was clearly designed for!

I'm honestly looking forward to actually seeing them on the road, I doubt I will ever see one here and I will never be able to afford one but there will surely be lot of youtube videos and such of them so it will be cool to see how well they do.

The real deal here is that you get a LOT of truck for 39K/49K. Period.
Plus, it is stainless steel, looks great, it is an Proper EV, has all useful stuff that other Tesla have and more.

Apparently, it is supposed to get build in Giga Texas. End of 2021, 2022 expected deliveries.

I wish they would make a small rugged SUV in Stainless. More like a Wrangler/Bronco competitor. I hate full size trucks.

But living the rust belt, I would love a rugged Stainless Steel SUV.

A smaller, 2D "proper" Bronco-sized Tesla doohicky would be nice. Giant vehicles piss me off.

An EV single cab mini truck with full bed would be the best, something that can fit a sheet of 4x8 material over the wheel wells. Even the full size trucks now days have such small beds it's comical.

That's because most people buy crew cabs now which makes for a long vehicle if you spec the standard bed. So when you wander onto a dealer lot and see 20 crew cab trucks, 18 of them will be short bed option and the other 2 will be standard bed.

^^ Yup most consumers who are in the market for a truck today consider bed size last and cabin size first. Mom and dad up front and little Suzy, Bobby, and Jimmy in the back seats.

In that case they should just get a mini van lol. But yeah that seems to be the way things are going, people just get trucks but basically treat them more like a mini van than to do work. It makes it harder to find a real work truck though.

I gotta give a shoutout to my Honda HR-V. The only subcompact SUV that can fit a sheet of 4x8 plywood in the back. Took a lot of pushing and caused some scratches to the interior (and minor damage to a couple of small sections of the plywood), but it fit!

Elon said on Twitter that we might get some Cybertruck update design news in about a month or so. There's also rumor from source inside Tesla that we could see range of 560 miles for the Cybertruck Tri-Motor as that's now the new internal goal for Tesla. As someone who has Tri-Motor on preorder, that would be awesome! And Elon said Tesla would look into selling current full-size Cybertruck in Europe instead of smaller version if there's a way to get current design approved in Europe. So that gives some hope to our friends in Europe who want the full-size Cybertruck.

I like how you're on a first-name basis with him. It's cute!

This sounds awesome:

I wonder if they'd let you do a seamless transition from lease to the Cybertruck. My biggest problem was that I wanted to get my starter house this summer, but COVID made the housing prices SKYROCKET in my area! So I'm still stuck renting & have no place to charge at home (park outside, no garage). Bah, first world problems lol.

So, they sent out an ad to tell people to lease one of their current vehicles while they wait? You said this is awesome so I feel like I'm missing some detail in this article. How is this different than any other auto maker allowing you early lease turn ins to try and lock you into their product for another 2 to 3 years? Do people need an email to tell them that Tesla offers leases?

Also, that $1500 credit isn't even through them. It's through a program sponsored between Cali and in state utilities. They word it in a way "We are currently offering you" to make you think it's something they are doing for you as a customer. Form your own opinion on that I guess.
