So as the hub goes over the tyres and there's indents in the tyres for the hub does that mean that you have to buy proprietary Tesla tyres?
I'm not 100% sure but if I had to take a guess I would say that it's probably just a cover that pops off. Once the cover is off you would gain access to the lug nuts to take the rim off the hub and replace the tire.

The cover it there most likely to help with aerodynamics. I know on the Mach-E you can purchase plastic OEM parts that fit in the rims to help with aero therefore increasing range but this is just a guess so don't take my word for it.

Hmm, I guess it's not a car for me.
Yeah I agree. I'm not in the market for an EV but if I was the CT probably wouldn't be on the list. I'm still gonna reserve judgement until I can see a factory built model in person.

It certainly is a unique looking vehicle though and I'd rather see this go into production than another bland and boring suv/cuv like the Buick Envista, Kia Niro, Chevy Trax, Hyundai EV9, ect......

The tires have a form for the cover in the sidewall. It's definitely a custom tire. You can see some pictures a page or two back on what the tire looks like without the cover installed.

The backend looks like a vehicle you would see on the tarmac, reloading planes with snacks.

Adding the plastic cladding and thus reducing clearance to nil while retaining the off-road tow hooks suggests that Tesla lost the ball on what they intend this thing to be. I can see an off-road enthusiast stripping one down and building it back up into a badass off-roader but it would be an expensive endeavor.

My issue with those tyres is that if you run them at a lower pressure, or load the truck bed or tow something and hit a bump is that going to flex the tyre enough to turn that hub into a bladed frisbee flying through the air at 70mph!

Maybe that's a production unit? I don't see the standard panel canyons.
Is the rumor still that they'll deliver 10 CTs this month at the launch event?

Runflats on luxury cars already cost a small fortune. These will be fun to replace after 30k miles.

I don't see anything "proprietary" about that tire or rim. All I see is a tire with some extra rubber on the sidewall to make it look cool and match the wheel cover.
The notches are not standard. All other wheel covers are just circular, this one has "teeth" if you blow up the picture I stole and look to the right where Goodyear is, you'll see half the teeth is an actual notch.

Sorry I don't see any teeth with a notch by the Goodyear logo. All I see is where the cover looked to be rubbing against the tire at an offset.

Anyway, I'm done arguing about whether or not the tires on the CT are proprietary. Of all the things to lock down on a vehicle especially a truck it is highly unlikely that Tesla decided on the tires.

I mean there isn't any argument. That wheel hub absolutely fits partly over the tyre and there's 7 big "teeth" that fit into indents in the tyre.
You could run whatever tyres you want but I don't think that the wheel hub would fit securely then.

Here's one that's slipped so you can see where the hub should fit the notches.

There's a Reddit thread about it (because there's a Reddit thread about everything!)
