Thanks, but trucks of any sort are just not on my list. 1 car household, and we bought an Elantra Hybrid last year. Works perfectly for our needs, from city/suburb tasks for 2, to camping and hiking up in New Hampshire.

I live out in the hinterland (need to drive about 3 hours to find a town with Population over 20K ), where Pickups are very popular, but my neighbor, gets MUCH more capability/usage from from his small SUV/Crossover and a utility trailer, than any of the full size Pickup Bros in our neighborhood, and he gets much better MPG for day to day usage.

If I ever really felt I need a truck bed. I'd just get a Utility trailer.

That's where we ended up. We're station wagon people at heart. We have an FJ for offroading and it can pull a trailer. We had a pickup bed conversion trailer for awhile but ended up selling it because we wanted the space back. We can rent a lot of UHaul trailers for the cost of buying and the trailer goes away when we're done using it.

If that works for you it's a great solution. Wouldn't have worked for me because I needed 9k towing capacity and an 8' bed. While the trailer could handle heavy loads, it didn't work with the material lengths I often needed. Today I could make a small pickup work, or a utility trailer, but since I already have the full sized truck, there is no point to changing my setup.

I asked my wife if I could finance $96k for a 470-mile electric truck that had a filled bed from a spare tire & extended battery & she just kinda looked at me funny, given that the monthly payment would be more than my current rent

Why is it there to start with? Regardless, why does anyone like the idea of spending 50-100k on a car that can be completely controlled at the whim of a billionaire with the maturity of a teenage boy.

And that's where the dichotomy lies: you don't get crazy neat stuff like a Cybertruck without out-of-the-box thinkers. The problem is that they also think out of the box in other ways too lol.

As far as why the app is there, two reasons:

1. Charging takes time, so you can watch movies while you want
2. The new ones have a rear screen for the kids, so they can watch movies or play games

Off-road mode updates:

1. Compressor apparently takes forever
2. Compressor apparently can overheat
3. Now only 16" (not the advertised 17") of ground clearance

That's a LOT of extra clearance:

No step bar to get in or interior handles to grab onto to help you get into the vehicle. This dude is 5' 9" for reference:

In the Ford Bronco, you can get a variety of step bars & there are not one but TWO grab bars for getting into the vehicle:
