Yeah, typically reality doesn't match marketing pictures.
The only real difference I see is in the angle of the windshield and ground clearance. It was always butt-ugly.
They look the same to me...
Granted nobody was buying Teslas for their style to begin with but at least the ones to date are just generic.
I mean it looks just as bad in each picture HDR and lens flare not withstanding!

That stainless steel is going to look grotty a day after leaving the factory.
That's nothing Brasso couldn't take care of. Noxon would be better, but the company went under.I want to see one mirror polished.
from 870 to 988,009,000 days. Depending on location of course. How long until the stainless starts pitting and rusting from road salt?
i did a quick and dirty photoshop to see what happens when you get rid of the pointed hat.

the basic volume proportions are fine, but that triangle top makes it impossible to like. if they had gone with normal stamped body panels using their regular design esthetic on the 3/s/y , it would have been fine and sold well. a basic curved roofline gives it a sports car vibe as opposed to the pointed monstrosity. just giving it a flat top for instead of the peak works 10 times better.
but nooooo, somebody had to use the fancy stainless steel from spacex. and since stamping stainless is way harder than just putting it in a pressbreak you get this polygonal nonsense so that it could come out in 2022(3) or rather 2025 now.
What a buffoon. Paying nearly $100k for a super ugly and oversized vehicle, and then more to participate in a public beta program for a feature that will probably not work all that reliably during the life of the vehicle. Something about a fool and money...Tesla's Cybertruck Could Be A Lot More Expensive Than People Thought, And Some Are Cancelling Their Reservations
Tesla has said the first deliveries of its long-awaited Cybertruck will begin November 30 at its Giga Texas facility, with actual production to begin in 2025. Just a little over a month out from the event, Tesla still has not finalized pricing for the truck. Some who have ordered Cybertrucks...jalopnik.com

The tri-motor is listed at $69,900 base in November 2019. Using the BLS consumer price index inflation calculator, the inflated price for September 2023, the last month available, we get $83,646.12. Hmm, $98,990 is different than $83,646.12.So, they unveiled the truck tonight. Uh... let's just say that it will take a certain type of person to really enjoy the aesthetics of the truck.
What's probably the most interesting aspect is the pricing. There are three models...
To note, #3 also does 0-60 in 2.9s and has the highest towing capacity of them all. But what I think makes this interesting is if you consider the feature set and the pricing. $39,900 includes features like air suspension, which not even the Model 3 has, and the Model 3 is around the same price range for the same overall range. (Ignoring that there is no 500 mi variant of the Model 3.) This makes me wonder if we'll eventually see features shift as models get revamped and such.
- Single-Motor, RWD, 250 mi range. $39,900
- Dual-Motor, AWD, 300 mi range. $49,900
- Tri-Motor, AWD, 500 mi range. $69,900
Normally I would say this is true but not in this case. If the story is true and Tesla does deliver these 40 trucks in November these 40 are almost all guaranteed to be resold for a lot more on sites like Cars & Bids or Bring a Trailer. What a buffoon. Paying nearly $100k for a super ugly and oversized vehicle, and then more to participate in a public beta program for a feature that will probably not work all that reliably during the life of the vehicle. Something about a fool and money...
Those pre orders are going to be cancelled at a rapid rate if they are asking $100k!Tesla's Cybertruck Could Be A Lot More Expensive Than People Thought, And Some Are Cancelling Their Reservations

The Lightning Pro has a base price of $53K and the XLT Extended Range starts at $71K. Where are you getting this $100K price tag for the base Lightning? It's insane how the EV prices just keep going up. Even the F150 lightning is pushing close to 100k after taxes for the base model now as Ford keeps increasing the price. I don't understand how people can even afford this. It's basically like buying a house, except by the time it's paid off it's going to be a pile of rusted scrap. Well maybe the CT will last longer because of it being stainless, so there's that.
