At least half of a cars appeal is the looks. This is a bizarre take IMO.
Then you might want to watch the video and find out why it's such a bizarre take. From an engineering standpoint it becomes pretty apparent why Jason said what he did.

And besides looks or beauty or whatever you want to call it are highly subjective and are also prone to societal pressures.

a bizarre take is not realizing what a lot of society and owning cars is all about but instead pointing to one engineer nerding out as gospel. too funny. ever hear of overengineered btw?

The entry level model is way more expensive and delivers a lot less of the goods, and is unobtanium. they overpromised and undelivered on everything substantially, across the board.

I am looking forward to this being the start of the downfall of Elon at Tesla. His pure evil fucked up and conspiratorial theory views were not enough, but start to really affect the bottom line of the company, then the board might actually do something. it's never about morals, it's about money. always.

excited to see this unfold. let the elon fanboy bros buy this, the schmuck truck will be a sign of idiots in the not too far future.

So a quick review after reading the news & watching reviews:

First:

* The primary reason I pre-ordered mine was for the 500-mile battery
* The $39k starting price was also appealing for a base model
* I LOVE weird cars. It took awhile for the Stockholm syndrome to set in, but then I started to like the design. Yes, I still think it's ugly, but in a cool way lol.

Second, some positives:

* Lots of neat design features
* VERY interested to try the new steering system
* Super love how open the interior looks

Third, some whining:

* No orange top lights above the windshield. Maybe an aftermarket kit will be available, but that might blind you inside with all the glass lol
* No meaty tires available (yet) & the hubcaps look a bit watered-down
* $100k for the top-end model plus another supposedly $16k for the add-on battery...ouch
* No extendable ramp & no word on the ATV yet

Big truck guys just like to have fun. Plenty of over-engineered, ridiculous options out there already...it's fun to see a weird electric take on the idea!

Great interview with the designers, well worth the full 40 minutes...really neat explanation of their "air hockey" table system for bending the steel:

It needs something to break up the giant door. Maybe a lower black wrap or a stripe or something.

you need to stop excusing megalomaniac powerful pieces of shit that have doubled down on evil time and time again, who are pathologically lying salesmen, because you might want a car or think they are ok. it's nasty what people will excuse when evil rears its head. or just stop pretending you have many morals. take your pick. have one or the other, just don't pretend to be both.

I think anybody contemplating buying this truck, which has also completely been a boondoggle, needs to do some actual introspection, they probably won't find as much as they think there is there that is for sure.

it's amazing what people will excuse because they like a 'thing'.

Concerns:

I saw the emergency non-electrical door releases on the inside...how do emergency responders get into the vehicle from the outside? The windows are shatterproof & the doors are bulletproof. There are no door handles whatsoever. What if you have a medical emergency like a heart attack or choke on your food or something? What if you crash & the car catches on fire & you're incapacitated? How do emergency responders gets to you?

How do they repair fender-benders? Or car accidents in general? I'm also VERY interested to see the repair cost numbers, especially for new stainless-steel panels...

OK, it's not the orange lights on top, but there is an "installation required" lightbar available on the updated Cybertruck page:

Yeah I know right. Shits getting crazy isn't it?...those fucking nazi fanboys are around every corner.

If you don't see what Elon is, since he's made it very very obvious and not beaten around the bush, that is your own shortcoming. Not mine.

Read a history book. Or get a clue. Either way. The facts are facts.

Schmuck truck fanboys are POS. This aint' like SpaceX where Elon is insualted, this is the cybertruck, his entire ego. Simple as that. I mean the lines are quite distinctly drawn. He drew them.

Please read the room and keep your angry politics out of The Garage. They are disruptive and not welcome here. There is a reason P&N exists. This forum is for the automotive side of things only.

Bro your obsession with Elon isn't healthy. You do realize this don't you? My advice is to get away from it all for a few days and evaluate where you're at. Then hunt down those fucking Tesla nazis and wipe them all out!.....

From an engineering standpoint, for a mass-produced publically sold product, it's best to use as much off-the-shelf existing hardware as possible. In both design for manufacturing and for ease of replacement.

-That's the thing though, until someone pioneers it or it's use, it will never become a mass produced publicly sold product.

I can respect the engineering that went into the cyber truck while still thinking it looks like absolute dog shit though.
