I also saw my first one today, at the local supermarket. For such a new and expensive vehicle it struck me as generally bloated and shabby looking. Even the expensive special wheels look subpar. How can this look so blah and an Airstream trailer look so good?
A high school classmate of mine who decided not to go to college and got a (then new) DeLorean instead. That looked far better about fifty years ago than this does now.
By coincidence the same day I was out walking and a new electric Amazon truck went by. It surprised me because my very small town is at least ten miles from anything.
Got 2 CT in our small town, First one I got a good close up look at. Guy offered to let ppl sit in it, I declined.
I worked at Ford, from 1994 - 2012. Sheet metal stamping plant. Of course first thing I started looking at was the body lines. It looks like the SS panels are glued to a support structure. The corners at the front look like they could cut skin. All panels have waves in them. Worst is if you look at the "tailgate" you can see about 5 waves along the distance where the adhesive is which causes the waves, hot weather will make them more prominent.
The by far worst aspect of this truck, was the wheels. Had nice tires on it, Goodyear I believe, but the small plastic or whatever wheel axle nut hub cover, you know that thing that covers the axle bolt. This truck was missing all 4 and you could see the rusting wheel bearing and axle nut in plain view. I thought to myself was this an optional part?
Saw the second one in town few weeks later, it had the center hub covers. Driven by a younger person.
On the 1st one, my first impression was the door handle area, completely discolored by finger prints, think SS fridge door, or Flatscreen TV screen. Stuck out like a sore thumb. I mean like 4 shades darker than the rest of the SS panels.
Mind blown.
EDIT: what happened to all the preorder folks from the beginning of this thread?
