I have seen many CTs on the road and my first thought it always the same, that just looks weird. I will admit the wrapped ones are not as bad. However I just saw my first one at night last night and my first thought was "Nope". The front lights are hideous.

I finally saw a CT on the road today. It isn't as stupid looking in person as in photos but still not to my taste. It is quiet so it has that going for it. It was sunny and 108F today so I am wondering how one opens the doors w/o getting burned.

I also saw my first one today, at the local supermarket. For such a new and expensive vehicle it struck me as generally bloated and shabby looking. Even the expensive special wheels look subpar. How can this look so blah and an Airstream trailer look so good?

A high school classmate of mine who decided not to go to college and got a (then new) DeLorean instead. That looked far better about fifty years ago than this does now.

By coincidence the same day I was out walking and a new electric Amazon truck went by. It surprised me because my very small town is at least ten miles from anything.

Got 2 CT in our small town, First one I got a good close up look at. Guy offered to let ppl sit in it, I declined.

I worked at Ford, from 1994 - 2012. Sheet metal stamping plant. Of course first thing I started looking at was the body lines. It looks like the SS panels are glued to a support structure. The corners at the front look like they could cut skin. All panels have waves in them. Worst is if you look at the "tailgate" you can see about 5 waves along the distance where the adhesive is which causes the waves, hot weather will make them more prominent.

The by far worst aspect of this truck, was the wheels. Had nice tires on it, Goodyear I believe, but the small plastic or whatever wheel axle nut hub cover, you know that thing that covers the axle bolt. This truck was missing all 4 and you could see the rusting wheel bearing and axle nut in plain view. I thought to myself was this an optional part?

Saw the second one in town few weeks later, it had the center hub covers. Driven by a younger person.

On the 1st one, my first impression was the door handle area, completely discolored by finger prints, think SS fridge door, or Flatscreen TV screen. Stuck out like a sore thumb. I mean like 4 shades darker than the rest of the SS panels.

Mind blown.

EDIT: what happened to all the preorder folks from the beginning of this thread?

Their Tesla trucks are being serviced because they all broke within the first 200 miles of driving

The bad fit and finish of the Cybertruck is well known. Not unexpected considering the problems seen on other Tesla models.

Makes me feel better about the slightly uneven panels on my McLaren (a hand built car). It's nowhere near as bad as on a Cybertruck.

Looked at a 2024 Ferrari Purosangue at the detail shop when picking up the GT. This is a half million dollar SUV. The panels on it were uneven when comparing driver and passenger sides.

I googled and it looks like Tesla is redesigning them to not damage the tires or fly off and will ship out after it is done. At least they are fixing the problem.

Never realized you have to remove the hubcaps to check/add air pressure. That's just a stupid design.
Having hubcaps on a vehicle in this price range is ridiculous. and they are ugly as hell too.

The doors open electronically when a button is pressed just above the body panels. The buttons are located on the B pillars(front)and the C pillars(rear). It is a very similar design to the Mustang Mach-E.

Because of the way the doors open and close you do not need to touch the SS body panels.

This is NOT hub caps, this is what covers the axle bearing. IF I can get a shot of the local one I will update.

This piece here.

Sigh......the axle bearing isn't rusting. That is just surface rust on the hub/housing and is very common across all automotive manufactures.

Here is a pic of my 2022 Ford Maverick. I just removed the cover and guess what? Oh my God, the housing has surface rust on it even though there was a cover!!

If you actually work on vehicles, this should be a surprise to no one.

Oh no! It's spreading! I just removed the cover on my 2023 Mustang Mach-E and there is rust.

Should I take it to the dealer and see if it's covered under warranty? Or should I spread rumors on tick tock and Facebook and other social media? I don't know what to do!

Some kids steal BMW center wheel caps. My solution was to buy the cheap Chinese plastic knock-offs.

I might have misunderstood, but I didn't think his point was concern over the rust. My takeaway was that it's ridiculous that it costs extra to get a cover for the hub.

Perhaps, but if I don't point these things out then how else will I get accused of being a Tesla/ Elon, apologist and Fanboy?

Maybe I'm missing what you guys are saying here on the hub cap issue.
My admittedly limited knowledge of the issue says that the original hubcaps that were supplied with the Cybertruck were damaging the tyres and also launching themselves off at high speed and turning into huge ninja death stars for any passing pedestrians.
The issues with them had nothing to do with rust they were just dangerously badly designed (which seems to be a Cybertruck theme).

They are talking about the cover for the axle hub, not the wheel cover. Though typically the axel hub cosmetic cover goes on the rim or the wheel cover.

And typically you don't have to pay extra for those or hubcaps on $100k cars!
