I have mixed feelings about this:

1. Musk delayed the Plaid due to battery issues & now this, so...yeah
2. But we don't know the full story
3. There are 150 ICE vehicle fires PER DAY, yet a single Tesla fire all year is enough to be newsworthy

However, I do think this is noteworthy because:

1. EV's are still new & public trust needs to be built up. Plus this is a $130,000 special super-high-performance version
2. It took like 90 minutes to extinguish or something plus they were on the scene for 3 hours plus they put it in a special complex in case it caught on fire again
3. The owner said it started smoking. One article said the electronic doors malfunctioned as well. Scary. There are emergency releases, but you have to know where they are in panic-mode.

Stuff like this worries me about the metal Cybertruck with bulletproof windows...seems like a coffin trap!

Cars catch fire. That's just a thing. It's always been a thing.

What's scary here is that it's bloody awkward to get out of some Teslas when the electrics go down, plus those batteries go up really quickly and don't give you a massive amount of time to explain to people in the back that the emergency door release is under the carpet.
Oh I know. I wasn't being serious I just like giving the Tesla guys some shit every now and then.
Tesla makes some nice cars at a decent price. IDK if I would buy one but I can understand why people would.

Indeed. The shorts campain is strong. right before earnings.

The owner has been determined to be strong anti tesla due to his financial interests.
The owner hid the car and then removed it after 2 days. It is nowhere to be found.
The car has not been confirmed to be PLAID. Most likely arson.

Very similar to latest TX accident claiming that 2 dudes were passengers on Auto Pilot when car crashed. Debunked. AP was not engaged. All 'media' outlets did not write a word about the true outcome.

The erarings will be the strongest as latest deliveries. Tesla does not advertise, the mob don't have money from them. Another spit will set them back again.

No mention of 3,234 other car fires at all. Well, they paid their ADs fees.

Thanks. I am glad you've noticed. As I said in my post the mob is 'shillin'. It is irrelevant in a long run.

Exact quotable words? Where did you say “mob is ‘shillin’”? You’re trying to be smart, but your quote accuracy is as good as Elon’s schedule keeping so that fell flat on its face.

Tesla could solve this problem by offering cloud uploading of the camera recordings. That way the videos would still be available even if the car burns down. Remember that NYT article?

Hard to argue with the data lol.

For those who care, check out Naked, Short and Greedy: Wall Street's Failure to Deliver

This will explain a lot in terms of what is going on with MOST stocks.
So, all those 'fire stories' and such are just a part of the system. Real, no. Made up, of course. Something needs to steer those bots.

Remember around 2000 or so, those Toyota acceleration/carpet stories? That was the time when Toyo was about to become the biggest manufacturer in the mundo.

"Interestingly enough, this statement, as well as the Gladwyne Volunteer Fire Company’s Facebook post about the Model S Plaid fire has been taken offline. A look at the fire department’s Facebook page and its official website would reveal that the post about the Tesla fire has now been deleted. "

Nice try, shorts.

Thank you for your reply just confirming that you are indeed an uninformed shill. Perhaps Tpfitter is a better place for you?

Why? Well, Elon's Master Plan has been fulfilled and 100% accurate.

Smart people went into trobule to get familiar with it, but the rest just go with their lives by cheap slogans.

FSD v9 has been released? Or was it released a month ago?

“Master Plan” lol reading comprehension fail. The words were simple, he can’t meet schedules. That is not an untrue statement. There’s nothing being uninformed by stating the obvious, there’s nothing wrong with being for EVs but being aware of shortfalls and empty promises. A shill ignores those. I’m on plenty of other automotive forums and bash those brands for breaking promises as well. A shill buries their head in the sand for a specific brand.

why is tesla so popular?
Ignoring the occasional Musk design things they are a decent, cheap, domestic EV with a good charging network.

Theres stuff I really dislike about the cars but I can see why they have appeal.

I don't understand the almost religious fervour that some uber fans have for them (and all things Elon) though.

The charging network is what mandates I have at least one Tesla in the household. A Bolt is actually what convinced me I would never buy another ICE daily driver but I under-valued the charging network prior to owning one. While many competitor vehicles are technically capable of high DC charging rates actually using that ability in the wild is an entirely different story. Tesla just works, and it's deeply integrated into the car.

Aside from the network they offer pretty much the best combination of performance and range per dollar, as well as stupid value retention. The idea, for example, of paying MSRP for a Niro EV vs a Model 3 is absurd. There are other EVs that are almost certainly better cars (Taycan/E-Tron) but you pay far more and are forced to accept a likely brutal depreciation curve (though we don't know this for sure yet, I'll admit). The value retention on Tesla is enabled largely by their insistence of doing everything in software. A Model 3 from 2020 and 2018 have essentially no functional differences thanks to software updates. 2021 has a few changes but not many that non car nerds would notice. Most people don't care about a heat pump vs resistance heat, they just know that a 2021 has better range. I wish I had a heat pump, and I would like to have the power trunk, but neither is enough to make me upgrade.

There are other EVs that I would buy (Lightning is likely my next car purchase), and there are other EVs that I would probably choose if you offered me a free car that I couldn't resell (Taycan++). But if it's my money paying for it, and I have to use it on the occasional long drive (going ICE-less aside from sports cars) then I'll keep buying Tesla products for the foreseeable future.

FYI,

In the US for Q3:
Model Y Long Range is sold out.
Model 3 Long Range will be sold out in about a week.
Price increases didn't slow anything down.

Model Y redesign by EOY:

* During the company’s second-quarter 2021 earnings call this week, CEO Elon Musk explained that the firm would roll out a “new design” of the all-electric compact SUV by the end of 2021
* During the earnings call, Musk says that “we expect to be producing the new design of the Model Y in both factories in limited production later this year.”
* The new car will feature a cast front and rear body and — assuming tests are successful — a new, structural battery pack that features Tesla’s radically improved cells.
* In the call, Musk says the car “will look very much like the Model Ys we currently make.”
* The cars will be made using a new casting process. Current Model Y Teslas roll out of the California factory with a cast rear body only, but the new model to be made in Texas will feature both a cast front and rear body. The fully cast body is a big achievement for Tesla’s manufacturing processes, which began with the rear body part. Instead of building the car’s rear end out of 70 individual components, for example, the firm can stamp it as a single part using a giant pressing machine.
* Part of this new technology involves building the batteries into the car’s structure. Consequently, the firm will use 370 fewer parts per car, and each car will be 10 percent lighter in mass.
* The new car will also feature Tesla’s advanced 4680 battery cells. These battery cells were first detailed at the firm’s September 2020 Battery Day. Tesla promises they will give users a 54 percent increase in battery range between charges and a 56 percent reduction in price per kilowatt-hour.
* As the cells are still under development, Tesla has a backup plan to switch the cars to their standard cells if there are too many delays.

The current design will be coming out of the Giga Factory in Texas by the end of the month. My buddy just ordered one of the current Model Y's, a 7-seater for his family...they're backlogged to November!

I'm curious about what the final range will be on the redesign...a 54% increase over the current long-range Y should put it over 500 miles, which is pretty amazing!

4680 is not 54% increase in range. It’s about 10-15% more efficient. Still big improvement but nowhere near 54%.

Tesla is still trying to solve the 4680 engineering problem. They will get it done but there’s no guarantee the initial Y from Berlin and Austin will be 4680. Elon said they have backup plan with the 2170 in case 4680 are delayed.

Someone tries the new yoke wheel.

Man I still dunno about it. I really hope they offer the legacy wheel in the Cybertruck. I can't see doing serious offroading or dunes with a yoke...

That's Kim Java (SP?) . She's had Tesla related channel for several years. Her earlier episodes were decent due to having some novelty factor. Lately, she's been below average.

There are people who like the yoke very much, some don't. Normal human reactions.

I cant see normal driving with a yoke. I did two hand driving for about a month after I got my license, so long ago. I can't see learning all over again. If Elon doesn't offer a regular wheel, I'll take my business elsewhere.

Did you see where the guy turns on the wipers making a turn? Crap like that happening is what has me concerned. Don't get me wrong, I like the look, but I see no real point otherwise. Moving the placement of the horn is downright reckless. I see nothing but bad things with that.
