 And what percentage of the population drive these distances regularly? I love that you bring-up your own issues that come up once 2 or 3 times a year. Sounds like you should be a Prius owner then.

And sorry to break it to you but Tesla owners have a second car. Please post stories/articles of Tesla owners facing these issues you bring-up.

I bet you bitch and cry about smaller sports cars b/c they can't fit more than 2 people. That person would have to rent a car if they wanted to drive 3+ people. If you haven't figured it out, the Tesla isn't for everyone. But the company still can't meet demand, so go cry. Why haven't you responded to my reply to your post about no one buying them?

You just bodied this clown...Lovely!

I can't afford a Tesla, but I really wish I could. I don't get why the vultures are so anxious to pull apart Tesla, they're really the first auto maker to successfully take on the battery powered car challenge, and that's a monstrous challenge, not only technologically speaking, but changing the mindset of the population about battery powered cars.

So many nay-sayers, ahh well. I truly hope Tesla continues to survive, thrive and prosper and initiate many other companies to start making fully electric cars.

Sure, I'm going to fly Connecticut to New Jersey for a football game and fly back home. Because people who can afford $80K for a car do that all the time.

You expect people to rent cars to go to meetings? To visit somewhat distant relatives for a single day? For an out of town game? For a trip into the city to see a show?

I can see why you're a Tesla fan. It's a car that isn't built for the REAL world and you don't happen to live in the real world either.

I think you need to give Elon a call and tell him his cars aren't selling, oh, wait, they are, here in the real world.

Did you miss the part where it was mentioned that someone that could afford a Model S might own 2 cars? It's a real shocker, I know.

Did you miss the part where people who can afford a Model S can afford gas to put into a normal vehicle and deal with none of the drawbacks of a POS car with no service network?

ROFLMAO!! You asshats are hilarious, the ONLY positive you can come up with for the Tesla is that people who can afford to buy one can afford a 2nd car too. That's not a positive, that's a requirement. A Tesla isn't good enough to be a sole vehicle, it's such a limited pile of crap that anyone owning a Tesla needs a REAL car as a backup.

As things stand now and will stand for the foreseeable future, anyone owning a Tesla has to have a better car for all the things a Tesla can't do. Anyone owing a real car doesn't need a Tesla at all. Now which one is better? I'm going to keep laughing now. ROFLMAO!!!

I guess I really don't understand your point?

Lol. Elon is a freaking genius. Really, he is the Davinci of our times and maybe in the last few hundred years.

Tesla? They need to announce a sub $25k in the next few years. It's great to create crazy expensive cars. But if I can't own one because of the astronomical price?

I've seen a few of these around Chicagoland. They look pretty bad ass in person, and the fact that they're whisper quiet is pretty awesome. I'd drive one

Saw a tesla in person. Looks wise its kind of Meh to me, but I guess it looks alot like a BMW/Mercedes generic luxury car that seem to be popular these days.

I liked how it had Tesla engraved into the chrome thing over the trunk, the quietness is cool, it is rather cool overall to me still. Looks wise for some reason I can tell its just designed with "generic luxury car" look in mind. Kind of copying BMW or Mercedes except without any of the hallmark styling.

Was in Chicago this weekend and saw a few as well. My GF's aunt has a place in Chicago and there were 2 in their parking garage.

How often would most people need a 2nd car? Even the base Tesla would be enough for me 99% of the time.

Teslas are great for people that can afford an expensive second car.

Otherwise, if electric ever actually takes off, good luck going against Toyota, Ford, Chevy, Honda, etc.

They should just be a niche player i nthe high end market. I'm sure they will try cheap cars out and realize it will fail and just going back to the niche player end of things. Nothing wrong with that but they should stop pretending they will be what they probably can't become.

Tesla is expected to launch a $35k or less full electric within the next ~3 years.

If they are successful Tesla will be the reason EV takes off. If they aren't successful EV will never take off.

The 2nd Gen Toyota Rav4 EV uses a Tesla powertrain.

No one cars for electric cars. How many even know this exists? I went to buy a Prius specifically and I had no idea it even existed till I saw it on the lot (and didn't even look at):

If electric does take off, Tesla will not be the reason.

Yes they will. No one other than Tesla is really investing in improving EV's/plugins anymore.

If Tesla can get their costs down and are able to release a $35k or less model that gets the same mileage as the Model S, the auto manufactures would have no competitive model and would be years away from releasing one.
