100% no problem.

What's up with this?

89% .. I missed the nuclear chemistry question also. I have an excuse though .. when I went to high school anything to do with nuclear chemistry was a government secret.

I don't understand how anybody who got less than 100% managed to survive childhood. That was stupid easy and people who didn't completely rape it should be embarrased.

Vadatajs, when you get smarter you won't wish embarasment on people. When I get smarter I'll let you figure that out for yourself.

<< 6. To keep a heavy box sliding across a carpeted floor at constant speed, a person must continually exert a force on the box. This force is used primarily to overcome which of the following forces?
d. The gravitational force exerted by the Earth on the box. is not correct. The correct answer is:
c. The frictional force exerted by the floor of the box.

52 percent of students answered correctly
>>

Where the hell do they think the "friction" comes from? If there were no gravity, there would be no friction.

Russ, NCNE
>>

That is incorrect.

F = k.N

gravity is not necessary a source for N.
The static frictional force is from gravity. The kinetic frictional force, however, has nothing to do with gravity.

However, due to the construction of the problem gravity would be the source for N in this case, since we assume floors are roughly horizontal. The best way to determine the correct answer here was to note that the weight of the box is the same as the gravitational force on the box, and the correct answer is never listed twice.

<< To keep a heavy box sliding across a carpeted floor at constant speed >>

On a frictionless floor, you wouldn't have to keep pushing it to have it go a constant speed. Gravity gives it its mass, and keeps it down, that's all.

Correct:
b. 10 liters.
36 percent of students answered correctly.

How could so many people get that wrong? A mole of any gas, at the same temperature and same presure is the same damned amount!
