Speaking as someone forced to live under the redneck regime in Austin... I'd be happy to bring Austin into the great state of NY
We're not forcing you, please, don't let the door hit you in the ass on your way out of our state

Pros

1) I get to keep guns
2) Move to a warmer climate
3) Best BBQ in the country at every corner of every city

Cons

1) You live closer to the Bush family
2) You will gain weight (see #3 of pros)

Thats all I got

Texas does have amazing barbecue. New York has much better...well...basically every other kind of food imaginable.

And Mexican food and some pretty damn good seafood along the coast...also friendlier people, better climate, inexpensive real estate, better self defense laws, lower taxes....well let's just say there's a lot more than BBQ

I actually find New Yorkers to be super friendly. You also have world class culture, museums, unbeatable night life, etc.

It is definitely expensive here, but that's because there is so much competition to live here. Regardless, Texas is not my style. I left California because life was too slow there. I imagine Texas would only be worse.

Yeah, let's pick up and relocate my family to a new state because I feel like my gun rights are threatened. LOL. And just to be clear, I say that as a remark to the replies in this thread, not the original message by the AG, because I'm pretty sure his message was more or less symbolic.

Why was he wasting money advertising in NY anyway?

New Yorker's and "super friendly" don't belong in the same sentence And there's several cities offering any of the same things in Texas, but you're right, it's a slower world overall down here, we're much more relaxed. That's why we all choose to live where we do I guess...could be why so many are moving here from Cali too, or it's the assinine laws and taxes and that whole going bankrupt thing

I wouldn't call burning summers, freezing winters and mosquitoes the size of Volkswagens better climate.
The rest of it, yeah pretty much.
I'd still rather move back to Oregon though, you get all of that minus the heat and the BBQ.
I like trees and mountains better than plains and desert anyways. Plus Portland is a lot like Austin used to be.

Well you got the heat about right but it averages 65 here in the winter and 40 at night and in the last 8 years I've had exactly 4 mosquito bites...compared to NY climate I'll take this anytime

I can't blame you on Portland, beautiful up there but I would miss having a real summer, I love the lakes and boating in the heat

I think many of you guys forget just how big Texas is, while there's no mountains we have just about every other climate and terrain possible somewhere is this enormous state

Once upon a time, the 140th New York Volunteer Infantry defeated the 4th and 5th Texas Volunteer Infantry on the top of Little Round Top, securing victory for Union forces at Gettysburg. From that moment on, the Confederacy was in decline and retreat.

If Texas can figure out how to win a stand up fight against New Yorkers when it counts, maybe I'd consider moving there.

Texas nice always feels like Canadian nice...they just talk lots more shit behind your back instead of in front of it. I don't find NY'ers to be unfriendly...just more direct which is something I can respect.

If you want an unfriendly populace try Boston. They should be treating the water supply with low doses of xanex and prozac.

Sure...right...good luck putting together a volunteer infantry with your current laws

And you should probably note other divisions involved in that battle as well, you know, just to be honest and all

LOL, not my experience but perceptions vary...and I find NY'ers to be rude and indifferent to others, much like other big cities so it's probably just the size that's to blame...Boston is definitely worse

Good, the less gun nuts in NY, the better for me.

I'd like to separate NYC and environs along with albany into another state. You can have Cuomo, and the Assembly and we'll take liberty in the rest of the state. You seem to value that marginally when the process, however technically legal, is antithetical to a free but responsible society. The authoritarian is worse than gun owners. You're probably too young to remember, but one of the hallmarks of liberals worth anything was the attitude of "question authority". Now that the left is the authority here, we are to be prevented from effectively doing so. Lesser children of greater sires.

Please feel free to form a new state and free your superior selves from the base electorate. We'll do just fine.

TX? Too damn hot, but once retirement comes I'm so out of this shithole.

I find it amusing when us northern liberal staters proclaim our superiority over the south. But lets not forget we pay more taxes for shittier weather. The older I get the less inclined I am to stick around MN, the 7-8th most taxed state in the country with some of the worst winter weather one can find for 4-5 months of the year. Our summers are great for about 2 months a year though. Harder and harder to talk to my sister who moved to Dallas and find out they are sipping drinks next to the pool while I shovel another 6 inches off the driveway in 12 degree weather while paying through the nose to do it.

Nobody is stopping you from questioning authority. You are just very right wing compared to the average in the state so don't be surprised when your views aren't adopted.

FTFY

Just because you all want to live in an ant farm doesn't mean the rest of the state actually agrees with you

Really. You live out my way? Seems people here are very upset. As far as questioning, when was there public input before this law was enacted? Questioning with no input into the process is as useful as reading glasses for the blind.

Last I checked California balanced their budget.

They're probably rude to you because you're simple. They're quite nice actually if you have a brain cell or two in your head, but yeah, they don't waste their time being pretend-nice to fucking hay seeds.

BTW, the reason everything is more expensive here is because we have tons of really smart and motivated people working really hard and competing with each other for the same real estate and services. We don't like lazy welfare state gun whores, so we price them the fuck out.

Cheers
