Texas is still mad that the US Supreme Court over turned Texas attempt to snoop into your bedroom.
And they say the "Gay's" have an agenda...
You mean they can't post a Texas Government Official in each bedroom to monitor your bedroom activities like in Alabama???
i live in alabama.... there is no one in my bedroom....
It's not illegal to have sex with your hand.....yet.

Gay Man In Finals For Britain's Best Mom

by Peter Moore, 365Gay.com, London Bureau
April 19, 2005 12:01 am ET

(London) The best mother in Britain could be a gay man.

Simon Ryder was nominated for the 'Wonder Mom' competition being run by a chain of English super stores. He was then picked from hundreds of entries to represent Shropshire in the finals to be held in London.

Ryder has fostered nearly a dozen children with his partner Chris Newton . All of the children were listed by the government as "troubled" - some with emotional problems, others with physical difficulties. They were all between the ages of three and 11.

Currently he is foster parent to a seven-year-old and a 10-year-old. He also helps run a schools project called Shropshire Sexual Health Awareness Workshops.

Ryder and Newton have been together for eight years.

Their friend Rachael Brown nominated Ryder for contest. In her application to the store she said that men should be recognized for the "mothering" they do in the same way as women.

"If I had children Simon would be the one person who I could entrust them to," she told a local newspaper. "We try to build up children in a diverse society and men should be recognized for the role they play."

Ryder said he is both "delighted and shocked" by the nomination.

I dont see why gay people need to be allowed as foster parents. First of all they chose to be gay, and then they chose to enter into a relationship which can not ever produce offspring. If they want children they should just find someone of the opposite sex and get married like normal people. Hell you dont have to be married to have children, but then the gay male would have to fight for the right of the child with the mother.

If you want kids, dont be gay.

You haven't provided any rational reason why gay people should be excluded from foster parenting.

I would suggest that the reason is that some consider homosexuals, etc. to be sinners. They are then not going far enough to protect the kids, and should bar all sinners from foster parenting. Perhaps sinners should be barred from holding public office as well, to protect the general public.

Riiight, then nobody would be able to adopt children or hold public office...maybe the second part wouldn't be such a bad thing though.

Foster Parents have way too much liability as it is. Their only advocate is the child placement agency and half the time the agency will sell the foster parent out at the drop of a hat. Especially if the foster parents advocate to the point that it highlights shortcomings at the agency in the court system. This new "Jessica Lunsford Act? that is being passed in Flordia and being looked at by the US congress is not going to help.

The bill would punish the molestation of children under 12 with a mandatory sentence of 25 years to life, "followed by probation or community control for the remainder of the person's natural life and subject to a system of active electronic monitoring."

While I am for protecting children, foster parents are already riding a fine line when dealing with any one of the thousands of kids with emotional or psychological issues. They are at the mercy of whatever the child states true or not. Even if the child is just pissed off at the foster parent.

Also, the placement agency can pretty much fabricate or amplify any aspect of fosterhome lifestyle they do not like and turn it to spin against the foster parents. Up until this point if the foster parents were gay and they agency did not like it. Bam, trumped up allegation that the kids were not getting any one of the required services and the kids are out. Not to mention the possible criminal charges to the foster parents.

My wife and I used to provide foster care and loved doing it. However, after seeing how the system worked we decided it was just to risky to have these kids in our house.

I had guardianship of an ex stepdaughter for about a month & after turning my world upside down, Child Protective Service recommended that to avoid going to prison from an ignorant caseworker agreeing with the completely out of control teen & false allegations, that I give her back.

It broke my heart, but I gave her back to her biological mom who promptly left her in another country when she turned 18 & bio mom moved back to the states.

CPS said that the quality of caseworkers was not good and that they were overworked and that they didn't like to have to deal with "problem" cases where discipline etc were an issue... And that sooner or later a caseworker would ruin my life forever...

Wow, just wow. At least open and up front with the discrimination.

Years ago I'm sure you would be saying to the blacks, if you want to be free don't be black too.

The CPS systems seem to reward those who just shut up and collect a check. Woe to those that upset the good-ol-boy system in place and get on the bad side of a case worker.

If you do something like choose to live in a gay relationship its just big subjective mark against you in the eyes of any social worker to walk into your case month- to-month. My point is, if this law wasn't on the books, it is way to easy for a single social worker to circumvent all checks and balances and screw the foster parent simply on a personal bias. Everybody knows everybody else so the rules are overlooked when its convenient or when a waiver can be scribbled out.

It?s unfortunate that this discrimination is legal now.

I think we should vote to kick texas out of the union (give them to mexico or something), all who agree with me say "AYE"!

My granddad lived his whole life in TX and he's a decent, caring man, as is my father. I wouldn't stereotype Texas but I sure don't agree with what they're doing. All the more reason not to move their myself and grace them with my tax dollars.

And the almost willful ignorance that post exhibits is amazing. Consider, for example, the
"they 'chose' to be gay" bit. Did it ever occur to pisabird that he never "chose" to be straight?
