This is a clearly a fucking retaliation move because Perry decided to take action against the border situation when Obama wouldn't. It reeks and this is not going to stick. If they can indict him on this, Obama and his cronies have much more that they can be indicted on. Again, this is a democrat witch hunt and in the end it's gonna back fire. Sleazy politics ahead of the mid-terms is exactly what this is.

did somebody mention that you are an idiot??

What a coincidence. A guy at work "therorized" the same thing. I kind'a looked at him with the "HUH?" look and he gave me "Well?" look right back. With that, I gave him the "you gott'a be kidding me" look, he gave me the "yeah, you must be liberal" look so I told him "hey, you look like you just heard that a union is about to take over our shop" so he looked like he was just about to say something, pondered on the thought and walked over to his desk, cranked up the volume on his radio to listen to some guy on a AM talk show saying something about how one of our neighbor island counties was violating federal law when they introduced an ordinance requiring the big GMO agribusiness seed companies there to force them to submit data on the types of pesticides they were using near the local schools and residential areas.

Funny as as all git out, I tell ya.

It's a conspiracy! It's all Obama's fault!

Exactly. It is retaliation by a drunk driver to try to sway an election.

The grand jury was a drunk driver? Who knew?

The right wing spin on this will be desperate, for sure. It's not about Lehmberg or anything she did. The issue is whether or not Perry's actions violated Texas law, and no other. His "reasons" are immaterial.

I wonder if Perry can pre-emptively pardon himself. Heh.

Obviously won't go anywhere. Sounds like he abused power illegally. But this is politics, come on guys, it's political. Love how some articles tie this to Perry's pres bid, I like that part of this story the most.

Drunk DA should resign. Perry should as well. Let some other vapid mush fill their respective roles for awhile.

Wonder if these folks don't resign because they have no integrity or if they're just to busy sucking their own farts to give a shit about anything else.

Agreed though I don't think you should need to wonder, I think it's rather clear.

So, a first time drunk driving offense is just as bad as a Governor using illegal threats, bullying, & de-funding an anti-corruption unit to serve a political vendetta?

Anything to avoid cognitive dissonance, ehh?

Are you obtuse or just stupid? They don't have to be equally bad to say the DA should resign, drunk driving and trying to use your official position to get the sheriff to help you out is plenty of justification for her resignation absent any other factor.

To those of us that have lost family to drunk driving, yes. Actually, the drunk driving is worse (no, I'm not kidding).

Her office brought scurrilous and trumped up claims to the grand jury in a vendetta aimed solely at getting two crazy women elected.

These women will lose the elections and this case because it is without merit and based on revenge & to sway elections.

It's not about Lehmberg's DWI. That case is closed, finito. Well, except for Perry, who chose to use it for illegal actions in support of a long standing political vendetta.

His balls are obviously bigger than his brains. Lehmberg brought down Delay, one of the most powerful figures in Congress at the the time. She's clearly a formidable opponent, with the tenacity of a pit bull. So Rick charges right in, guns a blazing, when he thinks there's an opening. Wrong-O.

Now she's got a piece of his ass & will do her damndest to rip it out. Good luck to her.

There won't be anything that will happen to him.

But, this just proves how stupid this man is; he announced, publicly, that he will perform an illegal act.

Lets put aside his political views for a second - do you really want someone who announces something like this, leading your country? Your state? Your city? Your town?

Would you feel perfectly OK, if you were led by someone who said, to everyone who has a TV, an internet connection and capable of reading a newspaper; Hey, I know Osama Bin Laden is hiding in Pakistan, I am going to send a team of Seals, without the Pakistani government's knowledge into the country - illegally, because these boys aren't getting their passports stamped - to kill him, extract the body, burn it and then dump the ashes into the ocean..

This idiot can stay where he is - because he isn't my problem, and hopefully will never be my problem,.. ever. He can continue living & leading in his own world of pettiness and buffoonery,.. because he was put there by the people that live in said world.

If they were so scurrilous and trumped up, why did the grand jury agree to indict the governor? A grand jury's job is to look at the evidence presented and answer the question, "is there evidence of wrong doing and does it warrant a charging someone with a crime?"

How is carrying out a legal authority of the office classified as corruption? Couldn't Perry veto any bill for any reason or for no reason at all?

Yes, he can. But what he is not allowed to do is use the theat of a veto (or signing) of a bill as leverage to coerce specific actions by an individual.

Looks like Perry pushed the limits of his veto power, but I am not sufficiently familiar with Texas law to say he crossed into illegality. He could make an argument that given the DUI situation of the leadership, the office whose funding he was vetoing could not be effective.
That said, just like Governor can push the limits of his veto power, prosecutor can push the limits of his power to bring the case to a grand jury and see where the chips fall.
This is what happens when politics becomes a war.

It is in the public interest to see a criminal drunk removed from office. Perry was pursuing the public interest in his capacity as Governor.
