In Texas(and I suspect in other states), palm trees: look like crap, freeze, take shit tons of water to grow properly, don't provide shade, and they don't have coconuts. They are the most useless thing to grow in Texas.

While I think they are overused here, they do at least fit in. It's a temperate region that rarely even has frost (SoCal excluding mountains) so they can grow well here. Palm trees make me think of warm, sunny weather and beaches. We have a lot of all of those here.
