obvious troll is obvious.

please explain...

I want the dryer fixed this weekend, not to wait until Monday, or Tuesday, or when a landlord might want to fix it.

By the way the place I am living has 1 star reviews and we moved here out of necessity. The landlord has been complained about for not fixing issues in a timely manner by other current tenants.

There most certainly *are* plumbing emergencies! Leaks cause escalating damage while they are left unresolved. Electrical emergencies can lead to fire and death.
The post I quoted seemed to imply that there weren't 24hour repair men, I was just correcting that.

Expecting the maintenance person to work on the weekend to fix your dryer is a dick move. This waits until a weekday. I wouldn't even get mad if I had to wait until Thursday for a fix. It's not an emergency, so it doesn't get priority.

No. Text messages are generally less asynchronous compared with email. You typically leave text notifications on, even after hours, so people can contact you about something that's actually important and worth disturbing you over.
Or I suppose they could use that other feature that phones now support, something to do with near-realtime transfer of voice data.

Or set the phone to silent when they don't want to be bothered. This seems to cause severe physical pain in most people though, as they would rather toss their beloved children into a wood chipper than risk missing a text or call.

That was sufficient further information to make a final determination: your parents did not do a very good job. You would think that anyone old enough to move out on their own would be able to apply common sense to determine what an emergency is. Then again, people get the wrong order at the drive-thru and call 911. On the other hand, those people are the ones who get in trouble with the police, because any reasonable person has enough common sense to know better. Hence, your landlord possibly being a bit irate over being bothered by a trivial maintenance issue early in the morning.

You're right, OP! This is an emergency situation. If the dryer isn't fixed at this moment, perhaps you should escalate it up the chain of command and call 911. That usually works out best.

F that. He should have just tweeted the president.

Your neighbors must love you for doing your laundry at 7 AM on a SATURDAY!

Yeah. No one calls a 24-hour plumber / electrician because the dryer doesn't work.

They call when there is/are sparks, smoke, burning smells, or water.

You could fix it yourself. That's what I always did. Back when I rented, I called the landlord four times. Two were when the pipes froze and burst in the place under me, and no one was there. The door was locked so I couldn't get to it.

Another time was when a line to the toilet broke. It didn't have a shutoff, and I panicked. I left a message on his machine. After a minute I collected my thoughts, and stopped the leak with a rubber band. I called him back, and canceled the emergency.

The other time, the sewer line was clogged. The people below me put stuff in the toilet that shouldn't have been there. Otherwise, I fixed issues myself, or let the landlord know so he could fix things at his convenience.

The world doesn't operate with perfect precision, and it's unreasonable to expect it of other people.

Yeah. I never suggested that this was a situation for an out of hours call out.

OP, have you tried 911? Seems like you are the typical idiot to confuse something like this as an emergency.

I dunno. The landlord expects tenants to pay by when rents due or face late fees, etc.

I stay away from places like that. I've always paid my landlord when I got to it. Sometimes it might have been a week late or so, but they always got the money, and I was always a good tenant.

Yeah you are a great tennant, sure your landlord has no issue calling the bank up and telling them a mortgage payment is going to be a week late again because you don't understand how to pay your rent on time.

No... what's wrong with YOU?

YOU clearly have some kind of emotional inbalance.

I'm new to apartment life, wasn't sure what constituted a true emergency.

Dryer on fire: true emergency
Dryer stops working: not a true emergency.

It's Saturday, nobody gives a shit if you're shirt is a little wrinkled.

Yea? All were sorry to see me go, and I had my rent *lowered* on the first place I had. You tell me what they thought of me...

Because you thought it was notable. Why was it notable that you texted her at 7:56 AM? You knew it was an impolite thing to do, but you did it anyway, and then posted here about it to get a reaction. On the first count, asshole. On the second count, troll. Analysis confirmed.

It was notable because the entire thread was made about an issue regarding TIME...

if I had not posting the TIME i sent the text, the thread would have had no context, or point, really...

But I'm not the owner, she is.

I texted her letting her know it stopped working. I didnt text her demanding a repairman.
Duh. You don't need her to define "emergency." Put yourself in the owner's shoes and ask yourself what you would do then. If you wouldn't call for EMERGENCY services, then it isn't an emergency. Don't respond yo this again with "but I'm not the owner" unless you want to make yourself out as a complete idiot (we know you aren't and that's the point of role-playing, FFS).
