Because lawyers will try and set precedent no matter how insane it is because it could mean millions or even billions of dollars if they win.

Unfortunately, I don't know of a way to filter them out any further other than for no court or judge to agree to hear a case.

You don't know us yet. Unless I'm mistaken hes a lawyer, but I couldn't think of any reason to disparage him for that. Hes responding from his perspective, as I do when we in healthcare are cast as villains.

Completely obtuse? How on earth is anyone supposed to know each and every forum members profession!?

My point was simply that blanket statements that deliberately insult a particular group of people is where all the mudslinging starts and where all the logic end.

Well, in this case the victims were already suing the driver. They tried to join the texter to the suit as well and failed. This wasn't a case of them suing the texter in a frivolous lawsuit and wasting a bunch of time, they just tried to add the texter to an existing lawsuit and thus inly wasted a little bit of time.
