Yeah I've heard it is today as well, but I'm not holding my breath since it was supposed to be out over a week ago. Nothing new has been posted on the Steam forums that I can find.

I have tried, twice now, to get into TF2, but I can't. As someone who very much enjoys TFC, I am highly disappointed with TF2.

So this isn't gonna get rolled out all at once? I never play the medic. Gimmie stuff for the soldier, engineer, demoman or pyro. Gimmiegimmiegimmiegimmie!!!!!!!

There's new gear for the Medic that you can choose instead of the default weapons. You need to get the new achievements to unlock them (1/3 of the achievements for the first weapon, 2/3 for the second, all of them for the final).

edit:
The new stuff is:
1. The Blutsauger - replaces the needle gun, steals health from the enemy and gives it to the medic when you shoot them

2. The KritzKrieg - healing gun, when you get ubercharged it gives 10 seconds of 100% critical shots instead of invincibility

3. Ubersaw - attacks slower than bonesaw but fills up the ubercharge meter with each hit.

tfc was an awful recreation from its predecessor.

Sorta hoping the don't release the update tonight, as if they do, it will seriously kill my hours for exam studying... lol. More excited for the new map and game mode than the Medic unlocks at this point...

You can also click the Achievements option in the game menu. It doesn't matter which ones you get from the Medic pack as far as the unlockables go, just how many you've gotten - 1/3,2/3,all.

Seems to me they're really encouraging more people to pick up the medic class - having a good medic or two on your team can make a world of difference.

I'll have to check it out this weekend.

Haven't seen it try to update yet... I don't really play it that much but it is fun when I do want to play it.

I enjoy playing medic, mainly because I feel like I'm actually helping the team. As other classes, I usually die too quick to make a difference.

However, after a few rounds as medic I do need to play soldier or something, just so I can kill.

The Team Fortress 2: Gold Rush Update is now available, free to owners of Team Fortress 2 via Steam. The Gold Rush Update introduces the new Gold Rush map and Payload gameplay style, the first set of unlockable weapons, and a new set of achievements for the Medic.

In other TF2 news, a worldwide Team Fortress 2 Free Weekend will begin Friday at noon PDT, and will include access to the new content released today in the TF2: Gold Rush Update. Using the functionality made available through Steam and Steamworks, all of the files needed to join the Free Weekend are available for pre-loading now.

The Free Weekend is open to players around the world, and there is no obligation to purchase to participate; all that is needed is a Steam account to join.

* Fixed invulnerability overlay not drawing if the invuln player was previously on fire

* Fixed rare client crash on level change during control point capturing
* Minor fix to stat gathering to prevent players using sv_cheats to easily garner achievements
* For mapmakers:
o Mapmakers can now directly place the tf_gamerules entity into their map. Fixes Hammer thinking the inputs to it are broken
o Mapmakers can now place Engineer buildings directly into a map, with an option for them to be invulnerable
o Added "AddRedTeamScore" and "AddBlueTeamScore" inputs to tf_gamerules
o Added "SetRequiredObserverTarget" input to tf_gamerules. Force spectators to use the specified viewpoint
* Granary
o Added setup time logic, and gates to the middle
o Fixed an overlay alignment bug on one of blue's gate signs
o Minor lighting fixes in red/blue spawns
* 2Fort
o Added medium ammo and health to basement hallways
o Added small ammo and health to top of spiral
o Fixed a clip brush exploit outside blue sniper deck
o Fixed number "2" overlay on front of red base not being assigned to the brush face

Half the medic achievements are impossible

Goldrush looks interesting, but its been done already on several mods for HL2. Of course, it ought to be a lot more polished for Tf2

And the ability to place sentries and dispensers that are invincible is SO MUCH WIN.

I got updated, but I can't find any games. I don't think the servers are updating because the few that I do find have different versions of the maps.
