I just played some TF2 after the update. I played on a server where some people unlocked all of the new achievements via the console, and they also unlocked the three new Medic weapons. I just had to quit, it's depressing seeing people doing that, spoiling the game to themselves like that... I'm very surprised that Valve couldn't just hard-code those achievements and the new weapons.
How is it an affront to gaming? Hasn't this been done over and over throughout gaming history? Having to play through multiple times to get unlocked endings or content, or just having to play on the hardest difficulty to get certain things has been going on forever.
I like the addition of the medic achievements pack and it makes me happy when I get one of the new achievements. Should Valve have added achievements for all the other classes at the same time? Probably, but things will settle down very shortly once the initial rush is over and to be honest, I do not recall seeing more than 5 medics on a team at any given time and we even ended up with only 1 a few times.
I really think people are overreacting here, or maybe they are just playing on servers where this is a problem, but if that's the case, I can assure you there are servers out there where it is not an issue.
