i am having serious trouble with RAID on this mobo. i mention the audio, because i can notice it here. the computer frequently slurs (delays) when playing mp3s for no apparent reason, and usually occurs when i access the hard drive (Windows Explorer or something).
i am using the RAID on the board, and i am convinced that it is this, but should it be doing this? i am curious to know if general hard drive operation is slowed by this, and i am only noticing it when listening to music. is this potentially a RAM/virtual memory problem? i only have 256megs of RAM in winXP, but i don't see why it would need to be swapping when i am only using about 150megs of it. could it also have something to do with the striping of the drive? do the heads need to be in a particular place and the mp3 player is losing priority? i have tried increasing it to Real-Time, but it hasn't made a difference
if this problem persists, i am considering getting rid of RAID, which is something that i don't want to do because it would involve a reformat.
thx in advance for your help,
