So i just sold this laptop, and i desperately needed some of the money for bills. so i shipped the laptop, and used my paypal card for gas on the way home (sunday night). all was great!

then today when i go to pay my bills i was informed by paypal that my account was "limited" (aka, youre fucked). they say "were worried that someone else might be using your account. please go to paypal and give them everything minus your birth certificate again, so we know its you".

fine. new password, reconfirm email, and now they want my "location". whatever. the only instant way to do it is by phone. enter cell number, OOPS cell phones are prohibited. landlines only.

i dont have a landline, so i gave them my skype number. that worked, but my skype didnt ring (program was locked up after the laptop was sleeping). paypal automatically cancles that shit and sends me a nice happy letter BY MAIL!. "just wait 5 days and follow the confirmation steps, and youll be paypalin again in notime!"

so.... yea... thanks paypal. thats only a few hundred of dollars of mine that you arent letting me use. what a trash company...

Is this a parody thread or something? Because when you get an email from "Paypal" asking for you to verify your personal information, it's a scam.

Hope you didn't lose all your money.

dont think so. a scam wouldnt be able to limit my account before hand, which is why i even had to do anything in the first place... and also i typed in paypal.com directly in my browser after i read the email. i dont think there was any link in the email actually.

Leave it to a libertarian asshole (Peter Thiel) to develop a shitty product like paypal that practically forces you to use it if you want to use ebay.

its awful. and normally i send my paypal funds right to my bank, but even that takes 4 days and i planned on burning through this money by then. now i have to drive all week without my car insurance paid up, essentially meaning im driving uninsured until friday. so fuckin bogus.... i knew i should have paid my bills late last night.

paypal can be frustrating. They marked my account as having to hold funds before they could release them due to past performance on the account. The reason why ?
The card it was charged to expired and even though there was a secondary payment method they kept trying to charge the same card over and over. I emailed and informed them that if they would just use the other card it would go through. I was told they couldn't do that because the charge had already been linked to the other card. They said I should just put money on the other card then they could charge it and then I could remove it. Hard to do with an expired card.

Basically I had to get the bank involved to remedy the situation , at which point paypal apologized but still didn't remove the hold funds thing. Said I had to appeal it !

I'd never had a problem with Paypal, been using them since since the time my online bank X.Com merged with them or whatever happened,

Now Bank Of America? Those fucks can go sit on an Dildo that has 50 razor covered blades with AIDS infected blood sticking out of it. Oh and rusty nails in the tip.

I just went through this... took them about 2 weeks to send the letter with the verification code since they couldn't verify me by phone.

1. Dont use paypal as a bank
2. This is the fourth time by your accounts this has happened to you and you still use paypal? Major fail.
3. Dont live on your last penny.

Wow, wtf kind of state allows that? In NY, if your insurance lapses for 1 minute, you're screwed up the ass.

Like with many illegal things, it's fine to do whatever you want...until you get caught.
THEN you're screwed up the ass.

i get the first couple, but that 3rd one is very offensive. if you knew my situation last year, and continuing, you wouldn't suggest something like that. i wont go into it but details include having 19k for the year to pay for a house mortgage while having to drive 1.5 hours from home one-way each day (150 miles a day) with a truck that gets 18mpg. you do the math.

It is hard to believe you have made so very many bad life choices and now think that this some how justifies you not living on less than you make.

Let me help you here:
1.) You have what amounts to less for a 60hour a week job (no over time, just get 3 minimum wage jobs)

2.) You are making menial wages but drive 75mi a day to get to that job so

3a) you need to get a job locally that pays nothing or
3b) you live somewhere so devoid of people that there is no employment and your house is worthless to you.

4) you are paying on a house that you should be selling, short selling or simply not paying on.

5) there is no excuse for not having 1k in the bank; Give me your budget and I'll find you 1k over the course of a year.

6) you feel insulted that someone gave you the best advice ever "stop being broke!"

7) you have a car with bad mileage, but instead of selling it and getting something reasonable (say a 1990 Geo Prizm) you complain that it eats all of your money

8) you did not learn from your mistakes and still treat pay pal as a bank.

9) you lack any education when there is free money from the government for education! You could be a plumber or electrician less than 2 years time.

10) you are going to think I was 'attacking' or 'insulting' you here, when in fact you have simply failed at life thus far and people here are offering sage advice regarding how to win.
