If you've got a laptop, then it's real simple

Set up the queue on the work PC, and set up a queue on your laptop. Point your work queue to your laptop queue, then the laptop can either connect directly to Berkeley at home, or to another setiqueue if you wish

Just manually connect on the work/laptop queue It's pretty simple

Got a shuttle mini pc yesterday up and running. It's a Duron 1.6 so we shall see how it does. Working on it's first WU right now. I also have 2 clients that have ordered new pc's. Should have the parts from newegg by Friday and have them both crunching by friday night!

Easiest method by far if you have 1 is to use a USB flash drive.Install a copy of SETIQ to it ,& then you can flush & fetch to & from it to keep the 'netless' Q going.Only slight snag is if the work rig is using Win 98 then you'll need to install drivers for it.

I have some good news and some bad news.

Ok ok - the bad news first. I'm losing a P3 866 from SETI.

But the good news is it is being replaced with a nice bright shiny new P4 3.0Ghz HT monster!

<-Go me(and TeAm)

CkG

PS - what does a 3Ghz(800FSB) HT machine do as far as WUs/day?

My Dell 3.2GHz P4 does around 17 per day...and it's not really optimized as you can't with a Dell!

Great addition!

The 2.8c intels I have converted to the CLI client both pumped out 17 WU's each in the past 24 hrs. I'll check out my 3.06 at home later. In the process of setting up one of my 2.8c's in a box to run seti in this office. The only problem is I don't have a switch in here and only 2 network connections. So I figure I'll just borrow a connection temporarily and let it cache up a good 300 WU's then dump them after a week or so.

Cool - going from ~3/day with the 866 to 17/day is going to be sweet. Can't wait to get my grubby hands on it

Just ordered my clients PC's so hopefully I will have 2 2000XP's "burning" in by Friday night. Also my little shuttle turned in it's first WU this morning.
2004 Jan 27 11:17am 5.192,28.06 0.745 WOOD-MINI 4:33
Not too shabby for a Duron. I will have to pump up the FSB a bit and try to get that down closer to 4 hour WU's.

Another bit of news, I have inherited a 1.3 Tbird with mobo, ram, and video card. I have a spare case I can put it in. The issue before with it was it would hang on reboot and not burn cd's so it may have a funky IDE channel. No worried, once loaded It will just run seti anyway. So that should add another 5 per day.

I'm surprised that Duron isn't running that WU quicker than that. My Duron 1300 (stock timing, 13x100Mhz)runs an average of 4:50 and will complete a high mid-angle WU like you had in under that. The quickest I have had is about 4:22 so either you have a big upside in that chip or I would have expected more from it. (Considering a Athlon 1600 (1900+) can average 3:25 which I accept has the full cache but its a big difference) Are you sure its running at 133mhz?

the P4C is a mighty addition..of course if its a new (i.e. say from newegg) chip it is probably a castrated P4EE chip so it will more than likely hit in the 3.3--> 3.5GHZ range...

put that puppy in and crank it! :Q

I thought it was, but I just slapped the OS on it this morning as I was getting ready for work, networked it and loaded seti. I have not really touched it aside form that. When I get home tonight I will pop into the bios and check it out. My T-Bird 1.33 is doing about the same so you are right, this Duron should be faster.
