After spending the last month picking everyone's brains, I think I've put together a good PC for the $1500-1600 price range I wanted to spend. I upgrade only about every 3 years, so some of the choices might seem excessive, but I really want longevity. Plus, I expect to do some digital video editing on it as well (just hobby, not professional). Please feel free to make any comments/recommendations.

CPU - Athlon XP1900+ (Newegg when avail.)
Mobo - Epox 8KHA+ (Newegg)
RAM - (2) Mushkin 512MB CAS2
Case - Antec SX1040B (Emscomputing.com)
Case fans - (4) Enermax 80mm thermal controlled (Newegg)
Heatsink/fan - Alpha PAL8045 w/ Panaflo H1A (Heatsinkfactory.com)
Hard Drive - (2) IBM 60GXP 60GB - non RAID (Newegg)
Video Card- Leadtek GF3 Ti500 (Newegg)
Sound Card - CL Audigy X-Gamer (Newegg)
DVD-ROM - Lite On 16x (Newegg)
CD-RW - Lite On 24x (Newegg)

I already have a monitor (Compaq P900, courtesy of CDW and Hot Deals forum!), keyboard and speakers. OS will be WinXP Pro.

Thanks in advance to everyone!

Thats very similar to the system I just put together(same case, mobo, I used a 1700+, geforce3 ti200, and a few other differences)

I might suggest that you only buy 2 extra case fans because the sx1040 comes with two already(ok it's only a couple bucks savings, but a penny saved is a penny earned)

Good point. I forgot to mention that I decided to replace the two fans that come with the case with the Enermax units, since it was a cheap way to cut down on noise (expecting that they would be running at low speed much of the time).

On the heatsink (The Alpha), why not just get it from Newegg too. It is cheaper.

I would, but Newegg doesn't carry the Panaflo H1A. Figured by the time I get the Alpha from them and the tailed Panaflo from someone else, it would be about the same amount of $, and I'd rather just get those two pieces together and not worry about it.

Hey SuPaFLy - how do you like the 2D quality on your Gainward? I was going to hold off until their Ti500 Golden Sample was shipping, but then I read the Leadtek review which praised their 2D.
