Congrats buddy, you have learned what most of us men figure out early on it life and thats how we deal with women we meet.

My girl holds the door for me tho, and vice versa. It is a common courtesy thing and I try to do it often. It's just the polite thing to do. Now I will definitely say that alot of women just let that door slam in your face for whatever reason.

General niceties aside, I have a conversation with one of my female co-workers almost every day about how much more drama women bring to the workplace by overly concerning themselves with meaningless crap. Not to say there are men who don't do this also, but women tend to take standard day to day business way more personally than they should.

Ironic, since in most situations women in close quarters tend to get along with others better than men.

That much is true. Lola is one of those very nice women! Wiz is a lucky guy. Then again my girl is a very nice woman as well and you're right it took me 3 years to find her cuz the rest of the field isnt too hot.

I tell you what.. im going to grad school at BU.. and I work in Boston fulltime..
and the women in Boston are complete jerks.. I've never dealt with so many
rude women all concentrated in one area.. its infuriating...

I go on campus and every woman there responds.. I try to speak to women on the
street they look at me as if I have 3 heads.. and holding the door as well.. there have
been many occasions where I've done that.. and I get no response...

Yea.. i can't wait till im outta here and back in NYC

In some ways the women here in the south aren't any better. Oh sure they will be all smiles and act sweet to your face. But leave the room or turn your back and they will backstab and sabotage you without even flinching.

I always hold open the door for someone, male or female, if they are right behind me. I don't say thanks when someone else does it for me though, nor do I expect a thank you for something so trivial. But maybe I should considering lots of people can't even bother themselves to do something so easy. Whatever, I'd probably be labeled a wuss if I did something nice.

I certainly notice it. It's so rare anyone does anything nice to me these days, I am very surprised and thankful for whoever does. I swear, people are pretty damned rude sometimes or want to bring out their anger and push it on someone else. I don't even understand it. If I'm really angry at something, I almost always keep it inside when I'm talking to anyone else as if I didn't have any problem. Or, maybe it just comes through and I don't even know it.

I'm pretty sure these people would say thank you to a police officer (or someone of higher stature), but they figure no one else means anything so they can just go about being rude. Bottom line is, respect is no longer an automatic or unalienable responsibility these days.

There was a German exchange student at my HS who was really confused when some girl just ran through the hall and bumped into me without saying anything. He mumbled the famous words...yeah man, welcome to the US. On the other hand, I notice minorities being nicer every day.

I knew a girl at my school who was ridiculously rude to my friend (it really didn't sound like she was messing with him, she always had a serious look on her face). My friend was screwing with me a bit and she said "if that was my friend I'd punch him in the face". WTF? Well at the point I lost a lot of respect for her and whenever she did something I bugged her about it (she was sort of friends with me). Ever since, she's been very nice to me and a little nicer to my friend also. I don't think I went too far by doing that, I only think I did the right thing even if it made me seem a little pompous. It just gets on my nerves so much. After that I really tried to make sure I wasn't acting like a jerk by also saying some nice things. She's probably been nicer to everyone since then but I'm probably one of the few people who actually construes it as rude anymore and actually cares enough to let her know.

How does this even relate to what the thread is about. She's not saying that men should bow down and open the door, she's saying that she would like some common courtesy. Also, this thread was about a woman not holding the door for another woman, not a man not holding the door.

She thought you were prettier than her and did it on purpose..

I know some women who make it a hobby to talk about other women. I think it makes them feel better if they can tear someone else down.

That is why you rarely see women that are truly close friends. They are just not loyal and I think it is because they are too busy competing.
