Anyone see pricing for the US race? Ticketmaster has non-PSL seats up now. $520 for the best grandstands.. $172 just for general admission. I think I'll stick to attending the local ALMS/Grand-Am races and watching F1 on TV.

To clarify, thats for the 3-day weekend pass.

Plus airfare, plus rental car, plus meals, plus hotel...

Yeah, I'll watch it on TV.

Looks like Ferrari have turned that shit of a car around. Still not the fastest... but it doesn't look hopeless anymore.

Wow. That was terrible strategy by Ferrari. What made them think they could run Alonso on a 1 stop? If he'd pitted a lap or two after Hamilton, he could have still retained a podium, and potentially fought for the win.

Damn. Hamilton just took the lead in the drivers championship.

Awesome stuff for Lotus and Sauber.

Why couldn't Kimi get past Webber? He was less than a second behind him after Webber's second stop.

It was a gamble... they chose to cover Vettel instead. Too bay they're always covering the wrong guy though. :\

Oh well... at least the car is competitive now. If somebody told me after Melbourne that they'd have the speed to be fighting for pole and a win after 7 races I'd have told them to STFU.

I don't understand the logic of Ferrari. You have a great driver there, your car is finally decent, and you try silly strategy games...?

well, they were handed the track position while under the belief they could go the distance, so the motivation was there to see it through...BUT it was obviously a mistake 2 laps after hamiton pitted and a total disaster after that.

The strategy was obviously a mistake when Hamilton was gaining a second a lap shortly after the stop. Hell even though Vetel made the same mistake, he eventually pitted and mugged Alonso.

The Pirelli tires and the shell game of fast their performance will fall off, and how easy it is to pass. At Monaco you can one-stop, because passing is impossible. At Montreal, there are many places to pass, so that strategy is pure fail. With all of the reliability the cars now have, except Michael, F1 needs the Pirelli 'performance' to be the story of the weekend to get exciting races.

Vettel was more than 5 seconds a lap faster than Alonso in the last laps...Kimi was 4, and the rest were 3...one more straight and Rosberg would have gone blowing by Alonso, too.

Hamilton's number is off because he was just cruising the last lap, so he only shows as 1 second quicker.

I understand the gamble on Hamilton but if they decided to cover Vettel they should've done so until the end and pitted with him. Even if they lose position to Grosjean or Perez by pitting, those two aren't likely to be fighting for the championship anyway.

I just started watching formula 1 this year and forgive me if I am noob but I thought Michael Schumacher was like a god driver? It seems he's had car/engine problems but when he actually is racing he doesn't look that good to me. Has he gone down the past few years or something?

Lewis Hamilton is pretty badass though and his gf is hot.

In his younger years, Schumacher had some of those moments, where you truly start believing that the supernatural happened.
Much like Vettel's qualifying performance last season (compared to Webber mostly).
Then he had the advantage of having a run of very good cars at Ferrari, and still being an extremely win-oriented driver, to the edge of ruthlessness. These "qualities" are what make exceptionally successful racing drivers.
With Mercedes, the car never really was a winner's car during the last two seasons. This season, it can win, but so can about a dozen other cars, and McLaren and RedBull are usually more likely to, judging by performances so far. The car is similar in performance to the Ferraris, but there are more retirements, leading to the lower score.
And Schumacher isn't an as outstanding driver as he used to be 20 years ago.

I'm sure motivation is a factor too. When you're hungry for your first, second or third Drivers Championship trophy, you're a lot more focused and motivated. I can't imagine he has the same level of motivation and cut-throat desire to win with 6 Drivers Championships under the belt.

Watch Schumacher's races from 1994-2000 if you want to see him at his best when he isn't driving the best car. Watch 2001-2004 if you want to see what the best driver can do in the best car, especially 2002 and 2004.
