Would've been 8 and maybe 9 if he stayed IMHO. The F2007 and F2008 were as fast as McLaren. Who knows how many he would've had if he stayed at Benetton as well.

nah, benetton was all done and msc, ross brawn and the best of the team went to ferrari

hmmmmm

http://blogs.insideline.com/straigh...tian-vettel-to-drive-for-ferrari-in-2014.html

BBC Sport is reporting today that 2010 and 2011 Formula 1 World Champion, Sebastian Vettel, is pre-contracted to drive for Ferrari is 2014. Such a move, of course, stands to seriously cramp the style of 2005 and 2006 World Champion Fernando Alonso, who currently drives for the Prancing Horse squad.
Alonso, according to the report, will accept Vettel as a teammate but refuses to slum it with one-time champion Lewis Hamilton. Hamilton currently leads the 2012 championship while Alonso and Vettel are second and third in points, respectively.
Hey, Vettel wouldn't be the first German to excel at Ferrari.

Either Alonso thinks he can consisntantly beat Vettel or Vettel will move over for him. If thats the case he's in for a suprise. Their both double world champions.

Or maybe he thinks Vettel can't overtake him.

He doesn't think Vettel is anywhere the driver he is. He has said many times that the only reason Vettel has been successful is because of the car he's in. He thinks in equal equipment it won't even be close and he will dominate Vettel. I think for the most part he's right. It seems if Vettel's car isn't set up perfectly for his style he struggles. Alonso seems to be able to drive the wheels off anything. He's done better this year than anyone else could have done in that car. I don't even like the guy, but damn he can drive.

This.

Although I'm not a fan of Alonso, have to admit I'm pretty impressed at how well he's done this year with an obviously inferior Ferrari car.

lame-ass europe (valencia) u.s. tv times (eastern)

practice 1: 4 am, friday, speed.com
practice 2: 8 am, friday, speed
practice 3: 5 am, saturday, speed.com
qualifying: 8 am, saturday, speed
race: 8 am, sunday

*race broadcast delayed in u.s., 12 pm on fox*

personally, i hate when they do this. as if the fox-broadcast races weren't dumbed-down enough, valencia is boring as hell. and, there's absolutely no reason not to broadcast live on speed and then run the tape on fox for everyone else. fox, and the nascar channel, remain a total joke.

i am. if i'm up at 8, i'll search for a stream of the sky show. otherwise i'll record speed and get to it when i can.

p.s.
pretty crazy qualifying results. is force india for real?

I actually expected them to to have one car in the top 5. If Di Resta could manage the same time as he did in Q2 he could have been 5th IIRC.

Their upgrades seem to work pretty well, hope they solved the tire degradation problems they had last time out.

Alonso is one hell of a driver.

Hamilton still has moments of sheer stupidity.

although hamilton probably should have conceded the position with his worthless tires, maldonado was 4 wheels off the track and came back into hamilton. maldonado is 100% at fault for that and would have needed to give the position back anyway.

Excellent race for Alonso. Didn't think his tires would last that long.

Awesome that The Iceman made it to 2nd, and Lotus holding on to 3rd in the constructors standings.

Weber currently sitting 2nd in drivers standings?

Kinda feel sorry for Ferrari that they've only got 1 driver helping them stay in the constructors championship.

This. Absolutely think it was Maldonado's fault for trying to get back on the racing line and driving into Hamilton. Tough luck for Hamilton.

Edit : Anyone else notice it was 3 former ferrari drivers champions on the podium?

P.S. BBC coverage is so much better than Speed.

Hamilton gave no room at all to a car that had position, and threw away a good finish.

Alonso did not have much older tires than the others this time. They were never going to "fall off" like the older tires did last time.

alonso is neither former nor ferrari champ

anyway, that's exactly what the interviewer said to open the post-race press conference...not that it was shown in america. the best race in an amazing year and the american tv coverage was atrocious. i've seen less ads at car dealerships. i've seen better direction by plinko. i've seen better execution by war criminals.

did i mention i think speed and fox do a really lousy job?

No. Do tell.

Also, BBC F1 Interactive Forum is pretty good. Wish we had something like that on SPEED.

maybe (probably) i'm repeating myself:

the bbc has/had hd, excellent coverage with lots of people on site, great films and reports, huge pre- and post-race shows and no commercials

sky has an entire f1 channel in hd, even more people at the race, uninterrupted races (2012-???) and other good stuff, although i enjoy the bbc a bit more

speed/fox has no pre-race and little if any post-race, TONS of ads, standard-def only on comcast and other cable companies, no replay online and maybe 1 replay on monday or something. the 3 commentators are great, but they're in north carolina with 1 reporter at the race (he's his own soundman with a rented local cameraman sometimes) and they're all instructed to speak to the audience as if they've never seen a car race of any type. the level of commitment from speed is bare minimum.

the monthly cost to me to get speed is roughly equal to 1/2 year of all the bbc or 1/2 year of sky f1. sky and speed are both fox channels.
