Alonso is one of the finest drivers ever to grace F1. I am actually pretty happy that I can watch him live. Yes, he has his flaws and I don't root for him most of the time.. but he is one heck of a driver.

This race was pretty damn interesting and actually I have to say.. it was also pretty inconclusive in terms of overall performance. I have to wonder what the real potential of Lotus, Williams and Sauber is.

Also, lol at Kimi asking about blue flags.

He knew what they meant, I think he was just confused and/or pissed that the marshalls seemed to be waving them at him.

Glad to see the Kimster back in action.

Massa spent the entire day going backward in the field before his retirement after yet another crash. Alonso must have been exhausted keeping that car on the ragged edge and in the top 5 all day. Looked like a real handful.

The engine sounded nice in the four or so races it worked .

I loved when everyone could put in whatever engines they wanted. F1 was a better time then.

Massa is one of those drivers where if you give him a good car he can put it on pole and win flag to flag the next day. You give him a shit car and he looks so lost with it. I feel sorry for him to be honest... being WC for about a minute.

it's very popular to rip on ferrari for making massa out to be a chump, and to rip on massa for acting like a chump. i consider such rippings totally illogical for several reasons:

1. in what other sport is a team expected to not tell its players what to do in order to achieve the best results? some will point to mclaren's policy of equality regardless of strategic compromise as being not just ideal, but the expected norm across the sport. this could hardly be farther from reality. in fact mclaren themselves rarely use this tactic to get the most from each driver (senna/prost, ham/alo and ham/but) otherwise they employ the classic 1-2 (hak, ham, bruce mclaren, anyone). equality can only work when the team has a massive lead over the entire field, and otherwise you're just taking points off yourself.

if i had 2 bullets to hit the bull's eye and i can use 1 bullet to help the other, that's exactly what i'm doing. this isn't some kids' everybody-wins-here's-your-trophy bullcrap.

2. if massa isn't happy with ferrari why doesn' he leave? if ferrari isn't happy with massa why don't they show him the door?

3. if ferrari put an ad out "wanted: n.2 driver for ferrari grand prix team" there would be no shortage of applicants. what's the big deal?

Ferrari is giving him a new chassis for Malaysia... so all this talk about Ferrari #2 drivers is indeed bollocks. Out of the drivers available out there, I don't think any would be doing any better than Massa. Ferrari still owe him for that cockup in the pits in Singapore 2008 which more than likely cost him the WDC.

You can't blame Ferrari for that nor hold the team responsible. It happened, you have to just focus on the next race, next task at hand.

True, they haven't given him the boot. However, they have told Massa that if his performance this year isn't better than last year they will get rid of him.

He's already at Ferrari. Who's available out there to replace Massa immediately? Sutil? Trulli? I doubt those guys can do any better.

Of course, thats understandable considering the amount of pressure they're under. Massa doesn't blame the team though, he blames Briatore and Piquet for causing the crash that triggered that yellow. lol

I record them and watch the race in the AM after I get up. I just avoid this thread and any of the F1 sites. You'll NEVER hear about the results of an F1 race watching or reading US news unless someone dies.
