I hate AOL but it has no business being on there.
IE6?
I hate real player but it has no business being on there either.
Disney the Lion King CD-Rom? This list is just lame.
WebTV? WebTV was great for old people who didn't want to spend $1000+ on a PC.
The Zip Drive? Only an idiot would put that on that list. It might not be great now but back then it was a great way of moving data relatively cheap.

 the list is elitist.

Things that doesn't even remotely belong in the list:
IE6 shouldn't be in there, nor should ZIP drives.

Why is RealPlayer up there? Sure, its a lousy player/format but it was pretty close to being THE defacto web-standard a loooong time ago.

Motorola Rokr E1 (2005) - meh, not that hot, but shouldn't make the list...

15. Iomega Zip Drive (1998) - Hey, it was pretty good while it was alive, before CDs killed it. Not Iomega's fault.

I'm another one that thought the zip drive was great. It was very useful, convenient, and durable at the university's. I used to carry about 5 disks around. I only finally took out my zip drive a couple years ago. It was sad to let go.

Windows ME shouldn't be at this list!!
I've used it for a few years and it was the best OS after Windows XP... I've already used Windows 95, 98, 2000 too...

And the worst was Windows 2000! It was always crashing, bugged! Windows ME was the most stable version of Windows after Windows XP...

AOL definately tops the list.

The county I live in was, for whatever reason, skipped over by all the major national ISPs, AOL, Compuserve, Prodigy, etc. I know a few people who popped the AOL disc in their computer and didn't know that it picked up on a long distance number to connect out. Month later came the $300+ phone bill...

What was so bad about the P3 1.13GHz. Other than it coming out like a year after the 1GHz model, it worked pretty well as far as I know. The P4 1.4GHz should be up there if any CPU.

And I don't think IE6 should be on there. Sure it is the source of a lot of problems but if Firefox was as popular, it would also face many more problems than it has today.

Quicktime player and iTunes for Windows should be up there.

because its simply a bad product and only became popular because it was the only software that did the job at the time

should be number 1

Yes it should. It's essentially the reason for the spyware/adware problem that we have today.

I think the fact that it was released in mid 2001 and hasn't had a major upgrade since has more of a bearing in why we have. Allot can happen in five years.

Real Player was always known to suck. I installed it once, and it took over all of my media file associations without asking.
