@Assimilator1
You want the MPICH version. After installing drop in the 6.23 exe.

@rabrittain
The high performance WUs have short deadlines, if you only run the client for 45 minutes and then wait until sunday you may not finish it in time. If so delete the work folder before starting on sunday so you get a new WU.

What did you set the amount of RAM to? If you go too low you might not get WUs.

Thanks for joining

I suck at crunching F@H. I'm just uninstalling BOINC and installing the first client I can find that works for me on every machine I can find.

EDIT: Okay, stupid question time. I worked on this computer for hours, trying to get F@H working right. I downloaded a high performance Nvidia client, and it worked! Worked so well I can't turn the darn thing off. I even killed all the processes, only to find out that (3 hours later, mind you) that it wasn't F@H at all, but the BOINC service taking up CPU cycles. :|

So no I am uninstalling BOINC, installing some version of F@H, and it works. But can someone tell me how the heck to turn it off?

Yup, I think there are too many types of client.

Depends on which client you installed. Is there an icon in the system tray (by the clock) - try right clicking it.

If you installed as a service, go into the Services applet (right click My Computer and select Manage)

The Console version has an open viewable window so I don't think that is what you have.

I don't know about the GPU client yet, but most are similar, someone else will help soon.

Thanks for the response, GLeeM!

I don't remember exactly how much ram I'm using on each machine, but each one has what I thought was 4G of RAM. (I don't know exactly why, but system info reports it as being somewhere around 3.4G.) I subtracted 512 from the number given me by the config (~2900), and that's wha I used. I have 2 FX-60 machines online crunching F@H at this point. One of them has a 64 bit OS. They seem to be doing fine. Just guessing, but it looks liike it'll take a couple of days to finish a WU.

So my production has really dwindled lately, I've been really unstable. I'm replacing my motherboard today, hopefully that's my only problem but there is a possibility either my GTX280 or my PSU is also bad. Anyway I should be back up by tomorrow, and I have a C2D at work I need to borg today as well. So I should be back up over 10K ppd just in time to start the race.

Here are the two teams as I see them now. I am missing the numbers from some folders (those with a ?-mark) because I do not know which name they are using when folding. Please let me know!

The Folders:
__ PPD _______ Name
_12 855 ______ [TA]Assimilator1
__4 275 ______ Cutthroat
__5 870 ______ Drsignguy
_65 770 ______ Gravity
_14 650 ______ jonesthewine
__3 860 ______ m1ldslide1
_____ 0 ______ PCTC2
__5 385 ______ Pokey_TA
_____ ? ______ TAndy
__5 510 ______ VirtualLarry
118 175 ______ The Folders

TAS:
__ PPD _______ Name
__ _275 ______ Baldurs_Gate
_13 525 ______ biodoc
_____ ? ______ Chocobo Navy
__2 855 ______ GLeeM
__3 875 ______ Hurricane Andrew
_28 660 ______ Insidious
_10 970 ______ Lightstar
_52 970 ______ Markfw900
__3 565 ______ Neurodog
__ _950 ______ Petrusbroder
_____ ? ______ rabrittain
__1 725 ______ Tom_Philippart
__6 775 ______ TurtleBlue
126 145 ______ TAS

Then we have the missing Folders (who have raced in the past years):
CupCak3 and some others!

Let the race begin!

Now 24 hours have of the race have passed. The teams stand as they are. Recruitments are possible. Moving members from one team to the other only at the insistence of the team member and the mood of the stats master ...
The ppd difference between the teams is 7 980 ppd. I do not think that this really matters, because in the past years the Folders won no matter what ...

Edit: added the numbers for rabrittain, PCTC2, Assimilator1.
Edit: added the numbers for TurtleBlue
Edit: added VirtualLarry, moved TurtleBlue to TAS, which he is a member of (sorry TurtleBlue!)

Ahhh. Sorry Petrus. I'm paulnt04 for folding. And I haven't had a PPD in a while, but back in the day it was around 6k or 8k.

Here's my stats: Stats

EDIT: Also, sorry to do this to you, but watch out for a TAPCTC2 account too. If any computers get borged or assimilated, that's the account they're getting.

Cool ,btw Markfw seems to think I'll get 4kppd.

Grrr, I can't get F@H to run atm, I gotta check the 100 odd steps to getting it going!

[update]
Got them going, then I got this from both of them:-

[00:09:24] Completed 0 out of 1500000 steps (0%)
[00:09:41] files
[00:09:41] Size of work/wudata_06.pdo not what saved.
[00:09:41] /wudata_06.pdo not what saved.
[00:09:41]
[00:09:41] Folding@home Core Shutdown: FILE_IO_ERROR

Arrrggghhh!

I've gotta go to bed now so I can't mess about with it tonight, unless someone knows &posts a quick fix in the next few mins?
Otherwise for now it's back to DPAD.

If you have Vista you have to install somewhere other than "Program Files", try a new folder directly in "C:\".

And/Or you have to run as Administrator?

Hope this helps otherwise someone that knows will come along

Ooopsie!

Sorry, have not been keeping tabs on the DC until last night (changed over to WCG from that Nov Million thingie). I even missed Gleem's post on my 2,000,000 points accrued on F@H.

Is it too late to toss my name into the hat?

Edit: Ok, you go to the folders. I know that I am going to regret it though ...

OK -- I'm just a little confused.

One of my machines has XP x64 and the other has XP 32 bit. Other than that, they are very similar - same mobo and cpu and ram. The 32 bit OS machine finished a 500000 step WU 4 hours ago, and the 64 bit OS machine is currently at 72% on a 250000 step WU. Is this right - or am I trying to compare apples and oranges. Both WU's were started at about the same time on Saturday. I thought the 64 bit OS would be faster. The machine is a dual boot machine - XP x64 and XP 32 bit. If the 32 bit OS folds faster, I need to forget about x64.

Maybe there is someone out there who has already worked this out and can respond to me.

Thanks
