I forgot I have a laptop at work that doesn't get used on a regular basis. I tried to get client running on it.

I don't understand the problem. I downloaded client configured it and let it download till it started processing. I transfered the folders to the laptop and it says it can't connect because it couldn't find user ID. I don't understand why I get this error. I have setup several clients in this manner and didn't have any problems. I don't know what I was thinking I should have brought it home and let it connect to my network. I will do that tomorrow.

??? copy the text from the log file. Maybe we can figure it out.

Also, just to let you all know, the big brown truck just left, and I reconfigured my systems, and I have 2 more cards coming next week. May not make it until the 1st, but at least for now, I should now be over 115k ppd, maybe more. Once I am all setup, I will post a picture (I still haven't figured that out, so I may need help)

Hmmm...I expected a bigadv WU from GLeeM yesterday. Hopefully his main rig is ok.

There's a big snowstorm working it's way through the midwest and heading east, so even the weather can determine the outcome of this race!

The EM's continue to cut into the TF's lead.

Do you have the windows open in your house yet??

Here's how to post images:

1) set up an account at pics.bbzzdd.com (free)

2) upload your image to your account.

3) copy the url to the image:

4) Log into the Anandtech forum and click on the "image" icon, then paste the url into the dialog box and then click ok.

Thanks biodoc for the stats.

The Storm has made its mark where I live and it is only the first wave. So far we have received over 7" easy. We already had at least 14" on the ground and let me just say "plow", Yep, that is what I will be continuing to do today. :whiste:

All Rigs are running smoothly and are quite cool in temps. A Big fan in the room helps circulate the air. Surprisingly better than I expected.

[only a guess] If that's an SMP client, you have to be sure to run Install.bat so it will register the username and password of the windows account [/only a guess]

I expected a bigadv WU from GLeeM yesterday. Hopefully his main rig is ok.
It's fine! 56,267 points credited at 6AM! My GPU and sneakernet WUs are going to Peter (Sid's idea!!) I owe several people here points from last years race so I hope it is OK with everyone I owe that I pay them back to Peter?

I transfered the folders to the laptop and it says it can't connect because it couldn't find user ID.
I am going to guess that the laptop was not connected to the internet?
The client looks in the registry for a UserID, if it isn't there it tries to connect to the F@H server and get one; it can't run without it. You can export the reg key (PandeGroup) and then import it into the computer without net access. My Win7 registry looks a little different than WinXP as there where a few places with IDs, or it could be the GPU client has it's own UserID? It has always been a simple process for me before!

So far we have received over 7" easy.
Up north we only had a dusting!

You should have way more points with 2 bigadv. Are you using a passkey? You only get the bonus points if you use a passkey with 10+ WUs completed and with an 80%+ on-time completion rate.

Is the 10+ WUs completed on a per-machine basis? If it is, some machines only have 3 or 4 WU's completed. Sure, I could've run 10 regular WU's to get them out of the way, but I just set bigADV because I'm out of town 3000 miles away and I didn't have time to set remote connections to all of the PCs.

Sorry for not being clear earlier. It is the normal client and the laptop isn't connected to the net. I downloaded the client and set it up, downloaded work to where it started folding then stopped it and transfered it to the laptop where I would get that error. I transfered it back to the original computer and it started folding. I wondered about something in the registry. I have 2 other machines I carry work to and from and don't remember having this problem. Being fair I have had folding setup on those machines for a couple of years and don't remember what extra steps if any was required to get them to operate correctly.

I will go try the registry route thanks gleem. If that doesn't work for some odd reason I will just bring it home so it can connect to the net and get what it needs.

Got to make this last week count. I even thought about putting in on our server 2003 box since we are off till Jan 4 but I decided it wasn't worth the risk. Sorry.

Edit/
I found the key as you said GLeeM. Exported it moved it to the laptop and merged it. Started the client and off to folding it went. So another unit in the race, gotta like that.

The 10+ is per client. You're still getting better PPD than the regular WUs, it'll just take a lot longer to start getting bonus.

Wow, glad the temps are cool and the points are ramping up. I have to plow (more). Been doing it all day, friends, family etc. Holy shit we have had some (wet) snow. Over a foot by far! And thats the first wave. Second wave is later this evening! There is a third. Can't think that far ahead, it hurts!

I will spare everyone the details, just suffice it to say I had forgotten how many details there were to setting all this stuff up from scratch. :hmm:
What a way to spend Christmas Eve. I'm glad I had all my stuff done. :whiste:

Nice work Pokey! Glad to hear that you have things back up and running. I do know how much fun it is to start from scratch. Oh how many of us all had to endure the pleasures of loading everything back up. Brings back memories.... Merry Christmas to you!

when i left tucson on tuesday i had the following rig folding (dedicated):

q6600 w/ 1 smp (v6.24 all four cores were showing 100% so i didn't open up another smp)
+ amd 4850 (gpu w/gui running) (all this running on win 7 64bit)

tuesday night i got this rig going:
e4500 (nothing running) + nvidia 9600 512 mb (gpu) (running win 7 64 bit)
i'll leave this running, and it seems to complete units, but i get random BSODs frequently, and its only really started happening since i started folding again. this used to happen when i played some games, so i figure its overheating, ideas for taking care of it? i leave the case open. zalman 9700 on the cpu, 1 antec 120 mm for the case, and stock cooling on the PNY nvidia card.

Merry Christmas to all and to all good crunching!

Thanks for the stats, biodoc

All of a sudden my GPU (GTX275) points are cut in half, I think I lost my 3D clocks

Is there a way to get 3D clocks back without rebooting the computer?

I would rather not reboot right now because I don't want to chance losing a Bigadv SMP WU that is more than half done.

Well, trying to help make up for missing boxes and ppd. OK, I got all but one box up now. I have 2 video cards that won't be here until Dec 30th.

Its 25 degrees outside (F), and I have windows open and fans going, and its still 72F in the house ! I can't keep this ppd up for long, but I will try to make it to Jan 1st.

Here is where I stand now(132k ppd), except 4 missing for the box that is not up yet:
