I have compared the Sapphire 5770 to the Sapphire 6770.

The Sapphire 6770 cost more has 1 less DVI output and does not come with a crossfire cable compared to the Sapphire 5770 model on newegg.

These showed up on AMD's web site and talk of re-badging was brought up, but then it was supposed to be oem only ?
IMO, this is a similar campaign to Nvidia labeled gtx 460's. Which has now expanded to gtx 550's and gtx 560ti's at Best Buy.
There is no mention of these models at Saphires web site. 6770/6750.
At xfx's web site, there is a special driver needed for now with this model.

seems ok with me. It also had hybridpower capabilities and the 8800gt did not....so you see it was slightly different, not the same exact chip on the same exact card.

Just curious, what change is required to support HDMI 1.4a (in 6770) vs HDMI 1.3 (in 5770)? What is the difference in functionality? In AMD site, it says:

Truth be told, many of the G92 cores on the 9800 GT cards on the market have initially been 65nm but supposedly as time passes, there will be some 55nm products released as well. The interesting thing about these cards is that while their reference design is identical to that of the 8800GT 512MB

And cooler running or lower power consumption was not a guarantee, because there was little if no difference in wattage. And HybridPower... really? They dropped support for that pretty quickly.

There's another bunch on google, you'll find the same conclusion, it's the same exact card.
By your logic, the 6770 is a whole different chip just because it supports 1.4a while 5770 doesn't. Just like the 9800GT had hybridpower while 8800GT didn't.

the 9800gt was not a die shrink. it was literally an 8800gt with a bios flash and new sticker. the G92 55nm shrink was occurring around the same time but the first batches were indeed 65nm. the only thing the 9800gt offered over the 8800gt was optional hybrid power which 99.9% of the cards never implemented.

The 65nm 98oogt came out in July, it was out for 2 months untill Nvidia cleared stock, and then it switched to 55nm in Sept.

Toyota do your research pal, it was out for less than 2 months from july till sept then switched to 55nm after the 65nm stock was gone.
