It can't be locked to Apple, the technology being used is NFC which is not Apple proprietary. Wherever Apple Pay works, Google Wallet works and vice versa. Merchants will love this because both major mobile OS users will benefit from increased proliferation of NFC terminals.

I don't disagree that the actual technology involved in capturing the transaction is vendor neutral, it's the electronic exchange with the card agencies that I question.

"We don't take Google payments, but we do take Apple Express".

Wow pre-ordering the iPhone 6 was a PITA last night. But finally was able to order a 64GB silver IP6 for estimated delivery on the 19th for the wife.

yeah i'm really surprised that all of the ip6 versions are still available for delivery on the 19th in all sizes (at least for space gray).

the plus is all in 3-4 weeks though. still surprised. wonder if it has to do at all with the screw up on apples site. i had my ip6+ 64gb preordered by like 2:57 am EST cause verizon's site had it up early.

I think they would have to do something like prohibit Mastercard for that to work.

I'm curious to know what Apple's own estimates were in the model breakdown. In the MacRumors forum the Plus is at the very least even in Polls on models ordered if not even ahead of the 4.7" version.

I wonder just how big the demand was for it.

Yeah, Apple store site was still down around 5am when I checked. Plus size seems to be more popular given the delivery estimates. Demand seems soft for the 4.7" model. I remember Apple fans claiming small sizes are more popular for the past few years. But I'm still surprised people are choosing the larger phone given the Plus size is even bigger than the Note. Remember how people laughed at Samsung and said the Note would never be mainstream or popular?

while i'm not 100% sure i will like the plus, i got it just to at least give a big ass phone a try. i've always said i liked the smallness of the iphone in general. i've never tried out a larger phone, and i made cardboard cutouts and put them in my pockets and stuff to see how it would fit in there, and it is definitely large but it fits.

i figure if i don't like it i shouldn't have a problem getting my money back for it in the 2nd hand market (or at least very close).

yeah and i will admit i am one of those people who have always preferred a smaller phone. thing is, i've never used my own larger phone. i've used my friends but that is different than your own. but i decided to give it a try. at least this way i will know if i don't like it, and can get rid of it to get a smaller phone if it's too large. i'd rather that than have the smaller version and always wondering if i would have liked the larger version more.

I feel 4.7 is perfect after using my HTC one for over a year. I need a new phone but to me nothing is making me get the iPhone. Is the tmobile version able to work on metro?

That's why I'm curious of the allocations that Apple did.

If they had 20 million 4.7"' available at launch but only 5 million of the "Plus" that could explain the slipping estimates.

I'll openly admit being off on the initial demand of the "Plus". But will be interested to see over the course of a year how the final sales ratios break down.

I wonder how many of the people ordering the Plus are women.

If you're not carrying a purse, surely you should try the damn thing in your hands and pocket before you commit to a phablet?

Of course Apple *did* do what people complain about Android OEMs having done... given better specs to its bigger device.

Thought I was gonna pre-order for the fiancée but now she wants to look at them in person. I'm like, the 6+ is just a tad larger than your Note 3 (her work phone)! Then she says she doesn't know which color to get..

Isn't the only difference screen resolution and battery size though? I wish they were both 1920x1080, but I can live with 1334x750 if I have to. It's the same ppi as the iphone 5s at least, and I love the way my 5s screen looks. The 6 plus is just way too big for me to consider regardless of the resolution.

After a lot of deliberation I bought the 128 GB iPhone 6. Don't think I am ready for a phablet yet. It's just too big and I actually like having a second device like an iPad.

Ugh.. Verizon Business was going to put in a couple orders for me last night so I didn't have to stay up. Unfortunately this morning I find out their system crashed, they were down for 3 hours, and never got around to putting in my orders.

So now I'll be waiting 6 or 7 weeks for the iPhone 6 Plus.

Apparently nobody wants the iPhone 6, most of those models are still available for 9/19.

Heaven forbid people may need to actually step foot in a store and pick one up next week.

Best Buy mobile stores in malls have always been lower volume/traffic in my experience and you can usually get Apple devices day of release there without issue.

That is what I like so much about the 6+. My wife was due a new tablet this year (she has an iPad 2) and a new phone this year or the next (iPhone 5). I can kill two birds with one stone this Xmas.

that was partially the reason i decided to go with the 6+ over the 6. i currently use my phone to control my home theater, but it's pretty small on the ip4. the bigger screen will be nicer for that for sure.

I never liked the "tablet" comparison for the Note sized phones. It just isn't the same. To me they are much more like a ultra functional, modern PDA. They are great for looking at calendars, jotting down notes, texting, emailing, basic web browsing and some portable gaming.

But if given the choice between a 5.5" phone and an iPad mini for watching movies on the go, playing games, reading, ect I'd take the mini every time.

There's still a very significant amount of screen size difference between them.

Maybe. I mean, I love my Note 2 but it sure didn't replace my tablet. You'll probably end up getting her both! :awe:

lol yeah that's what I think will happen.

I had a Galaxy Note 3, it definitely did not replace my tablet.

Surprisingly ATT's online ordering last night worked perfectly (unlike apples). Ordered a 64GB 6 (6+ is way to big for my needs) and should be here Friday.

I agree with others that while the 6+ is big, it's not big enough to replace a tablet.
