How much did painted end up costing you guys and what was the process? Was it painted over the original clearcoat and then clearcoated once more or did it involve a lot more prep work and painting than I'm thinking?

I don't like stripes on the Mustang, with the exception of the red c stripe on the 2012 Boss 302 Laguna Seca (black car, red stripes). I don't know if most people like that color scheme, though.

If I had to have stripes on a grabber blue car, I'd go with black over white.

Mine was done during a full respray ~8 years ago so I wouldn't be much help.

Well, thread necro, but I finally got it done today. I think it's different enough to not be confused with the 2013 Boss, but rather a GT with some custom stripes. The actual inspiration the graphics guy used was from the 1970 Boss 302.

White. Stripes are a highlight on your car, usually to show off the lines of the car, white on blue looks awesome. Flat black is what you paint something when you want to hide it... it makes the car look broken up rather than highlighted.

1. blue and white stripes or white and blue stripes are the traditional american racing livery.

2. only a tasteless moron would put black stripes on a blue car.

edit:
whoops, fired off my comment after reading 1/2 of the thread

Yeah, I originally leaned towards white, but

1. Blue/White That's Shelby specific livery for Mustangs

2. IMO Grabber Blue is so bright already, white looks a little overboard

Wow Fairbanks... Winters, I hear, are brutal. I'm in Anchorage. Will you be keeping that car in storage during the winter? I made sure to get an AWD vehicle when I finally got a new car this past year. Gratz on the car btw...

I was going to say the black over white, but more importantly hate hate hate the black wheels in your first post--good thing you've got the aluminum color. Black wheels to me almost always look like something ordered online and slapped on a civic or something.

The color scheme you ended up with is sharp.

I only like stripes on GT500's. Not big on stripes on a GT, however it's WAY better than "racing" stripes on a V6. That just irritates me. I feel like asking, WTF are you "racing" with that V6 Mustang? Camry's?

I'm going to be perfectly frank and say now your car looks like you wanted a Boss 302 but couldn't get one, but it is just different enough that it looks like you did a poor job of it.

You have upbadged your car by emulating the look of a higher end model.

The MSRP was $42K so it was Boss price, I could have done it, but I absolutely cannot get a car anymore without the knowledge there is some sort of view of the sky and light coming in from overhead. I spent a few thousand hours last year in the belly of a Stryker ICV and I get anxiety just sitting in the passenger seat of a car with no sunroof, that's why I sold my AWD Dodge Magnum. No light overhead just give me flashbacks of sitting in a Stryker with no idea WTF is going on and getting blown up/set on fire repeatedly and that's the reason I had to go for Premium w/ glass roof.

What I really wanted was a convertible GT, but I live in Fairbanks, we have maybe 2 weeks of truly warm weather all day.

Thanks, I am looking for storage options for the winter, there's too much black ice up here, even AWD doesn't help all that much. Last winter I was here I had AWD and snow tires and it was a hassle to get anywhere above 20-25mph. I actually got off work for 10 days though because the roads were black so there's that.

looks nice, now you need to lower it an inch or 2
I'll get around to that when I get out of here, as of now, there's too many gravel roads that require the road clearance and even paved road conditions are abysmal. The brake dive is really noticeable though. I don't understand how there can be so much of it with a relatively firm suspension so that's enough reason itself to get some coil overs.

I am not a car buff and do not know what a Boss is but am familiar enough with Mustangs to understand GT 5.0 and Shelby. With that said, I like your car. It looks good. Do not lower it. Lowered cars look silly, juvenile even.

Colors are often either contrasted or blended. Your light blue with black stripes is contrasted.

A dark car with white stripes would also be contrasted. A dark car with black stripes would be blended.

I am not sure what your light blue with white stripes would be but the white stripes would be more appropriate in Florida than in Alaska.

I think you made a good decision and really like your car.
