I was at the will-call of one of my favorite online retailers, mwave.com and I noticed that they had 3 computers setup with one being the server and 2 client PCS. The weird thing that I saw, that got me very interested was that there was only one computer but each monitor was running a separate program as if it were 3 separate compouters. I scoured the net looking for something that resembles what they had, and after 2 weeks of searching, I finally found the BuddyPC. Basically, u stick a PCI Video card into your computer but instead of a regular 15 pin monitor output, it has a RJ-45 output connector. From there, you connect a regular straight thru Cat 5 networking cable from the PCI Video card to this little hub that has a monitor connector, PS/2 keyboard, and PS/2 mouse connector. And, after you plug those 3 items in, you have a totally separate computer sharing the same resources as the host computer.
I picked one up from a really weird looking website for $12, which was retailed at $160 when it was first introduced 2 years ago. And since then, the company went out of business so there is no support. The software that came with the hardware only ran on 95/98. Im running only 2000 and XP, so I'm stuck with useless hardware.
My question is, does anyone know of any affordable Buddy PC type programs or hardware besides the one I have? And also, the one I purchased only allowed one "Buddy PC" for each PCI vidoe card, whereas the one at mwave.com there Hub also had an uplink port, so you could daisy chain as many hubs as you want.
I've been looking all over for these, so any help would be greatly appreciated.
